I as well have a moderate to sever case of tinnitus. My ENT said there was nothing we could really do about until we met our 6 month mark of "recovery time" I am having surgery again in march to repair a part of my ear that isn't healing so MAYBE there can be some relief? But I doubt it. I have learned to ignore it but sometimes it is just annoying.. like the last few days. Is the beeping possibly blood pulses? Like a heartbeat? You may want to get a vascular specialist to do a carotid ultrasound to check for blood flow problems. I am going Mon to have mine checked because I have artery problems elsewhere already. I do not have the sounds but I read where c-tomas might be a result of poor blood flow. The only time I ever heard annoying sounds (especially at night) was

before I was diagnosed. Then I didn't hear anything. Then, finally, I

was diagnosed. After three operations I'm fortunate to not have those

problems.

My experience is the opposite. It seems like when the active

infection is down and there are excess ABX or herbs running around,

the ringing goes way up. Maybe has to do with toxicity of the meds

for me. I've been trying to keep flushing out bugs to kill with

biofilm breakers and such to keep ringing down.

Why do these noises occur? You all say it is when the processor is off and

when you lie still, more or less. Do any of these noises frighten you? Do

they bring on headaches? Do they throw you off balance?

I don't know why tinnitus occurs. It's never bothered me particularly and I

had some now and then before the implant. It just changed a bit afterward.

Kind of interesting, actually. Fortunately, mine were mostly when all was

quiet and the occurrences have been short lived. I understand that a very

few people find it terribly distracting but I think that's rare.

Patty - it is my understanding these sounds occur due to damage to the hair

cells in your cochlea.  If you have time you could do a google search on

tinnitus and get loads of information that way.

Prior to my CI surgery I would periodically get tinnitus in my ear that sounded

like bells ringing...sort of like wind chimes.  Shortly after my CI surgery I

had short episodes of tinnitus that sounded like a jackhammer going off.  The

first time it happened I actually looked out my window thinking that someone was

doing some construction outside, but then realized it was in my head.  I believe

this occurred because of the surgery as it only happened for a few days, and

then went away.  I have not had this type since the surgery.

This past year I've been experiencing tinnitus that sounds like

morse code...someone typing a message in my ear...but unfortunately I do not

know morse code, thus I haven't deciphered the message.  :)  j/k

As to your other questions, mine happens at different times of the

day...sometimes when I'm in bed, sometimes when I'm driving, sometimes when I'm

sitting at work doing something.  They do not frighten me as I know it will go

away.  For me they do not bring on headaches.  I've been fortunate that other

then the jackhammer sound, the tinnitus is not very loud in my ear.  I know for

some people it is quite loud.  They do not affect my balance in any way.

Since yesterday I have been experiencing tinnitus in one ear. Its not a ringing

sound, more of an intermittent whooshing noise. Does anyone else have this

problem? If so, have you found any way to manage or lessen the sensation?

I just posted about tinnitus on emfrefugee.

Your case sounds not too typical of EMF exposure, so I would check

with a doctor. Sometimes I do get it in one ear, but usually more of

a ringing or cricket sounds.

Here are some things I listed

There is no silver bullet, but try, especially the first 5:

1. B-12, P-5-P, Acetyl-L-carnitine, RLA, magnesium, etc. B-12 shot might

be a good idea. Maybe B-1, flush free niacin.

2. stop eating all forms of MSG (hydrolyzed protein, yeast extract, natural

flavors, restaurant food, etc)

2. Try a cranial sacral treatment.

3. Be sure you've gotten rid of all the dirty power sources you can. Check

everywhere with an AM radio.

4. Find and fix " net current " wiring errors.

5. Stop microwave exposures as best you can.

6. Reduce all toxic exposures.

7. Move somewhere with much lower AC magnetic fields.

8. Try ginkgo 2x/day. Also green tea extract andn other antioxidants.

I later added coQ10, to the supplement list, and NutraSweet to the avoid

list. Also, the sound of running water (like in a shower) helps

some people.

I get it in one ear or the other frequently. I don't think of it as tinnitus

though, as I know it is emf related, like when something starts up and comes

through here, someone's wireless, or a plane coming through. It's more a

metallic sound, but the pitch and duration vary, sometimes maybe only a half a

minute.

There's been times I have one tone come in from one direction, and a few seconds

later one come in from the opposite direction, into the other ear. One can be

high pitch, the other lower and more vibrato.

Sometimes the one that comes into one ear will spread into the other, I guess

depending on the direction of the plane, when that is what is causing it.

There have been times when it's lasted most of the day, or a few days off and

on, usually when there is some kind of military testing going on.

I just try to ignore it, and put on something to listen to, soothing music or

white noise, if it is long lasting.

This may sound completely strange but I find the sound almost soothing. Almost-

apart fromt he fact that its just not supposed to be there!. Its a very low

pitched dull sound and to begin with it sounded like a very rhythmic dull

crunch- like someone walking on gravel. I never hear it during the day, only at

night when everything is silent and lasts a few seconds every 10 minutes or so.

Most of the time I can almost ignore it except when I'm trying to sleep. It

seems like every other week I experience something new :-(

Thanks for your response Bill. I am hoping that there is some underlying cause

other than EMF because at least that would make it easier to treat/ deal with if

you know what I mean. Going to get it checked.

Going to try some of your suggestions too starting with the the ginko b. I've

recently started taking a daily dose of an intensive Acai berry solution

(antioxidant but I'm sure you know this) which I've been doing for around 3

weeks. I'm not used to taking supplements so I thought I would start off with

something naturally based. Not sure where to begin with regards eliminating

dirty power sources but I will try make a start.

I started hearing the noise on Monday I think it was, while the planes were

still grounded so I think I can rule that out. Probably!

unilateral tinitus in my opinion means exclude organic pathology, ie visit to

the doctors for check up and at a  minimum, tuning fork hearing tests.

Note that one of Bill's suggestions for Tinnitus was RLA, which I assume

to mean R-Lipoic Acid. My personal experience with this is:

* Normally, I don't have tinnitus, or if I do it is minor

* After finishing up a 3-day round of taking R-Lipoic Acid every

3 hours (frequent dosing), the following day I will typically

have DEAFENING tinnitus in my right ear. For me, I think it must

have something to do with mobilization of metals in my system

(since that is what I'm taking the R-Lipoic Acid for)

I don't live under a flight path so I doubt that is the case. Not impossible

though.

Hi there - I've come across 2 articles on naturalnews.com - one on melatonin

helping tinnitus symptoms & one using pine bark. Have anyone tried either & did

it alleviate the symptoms at all?

The article links are:

http://www.naturalnews.com/030042_pine_bark_tinnitus.html

All the best from Ireland,
