Guest guest
I am looking for information on making a tincture , I would like to know what kind of risk is taken from using Japanese Knotweed in one I have been making them for many years but not this , could you please reference the whys and why nots ........I have it growing in my back yard, Is it alkaloids I am concerned with ? My local health food store is promoting it in tincture form and I will not pay for it . If you say pills , what part is used ? The root?? When is it best to harvest?? do I have to peel it? Thank you I just cannot afford the book right now .In a message dated 11/9/2008 7:13:09 P.M. Guest guest
The best parts to be used are rhizome and root. Buhner in his book recommends tablets, powder or decoction. The best form from own knotweet is the decoction - in Buhner's book is the recipe: 1 ounce of knotweet + 1 quart of water boiled 20 minutes / per day. I use own knotweet too, rhisomes should be sinked in late autumn or early spring - here in Europe now it's the best time to do it. I sinked 1 week ago and there were a lot of them. I made the tinctute too and tried it, but decoction is better tolerable.
