Guest guest
I found a Lyme literate dr in Michigan. He also identified me with irregular holter heart tests and echo-cardiogram showed mitro valve prolapse. I take 600 mg of clindomyacin before each dental cleaning. It helps Sent via BlackBerry by AT & T [ ] Lyme and getting teeth cleaned Is there a list of lyme literate dentists? I am worried and concerned about an upcoming dental appointment. Last time my teeth were cleaned I developed an infection like lyme carditis. I told the hygenist I had lyme beforehand and she was not concerned. When I asked the dentist about the infection he was more concerned about his own liability than my health. He told me that I could not have an infection from getting my teeth cleaned and it must be something else. I asked him if he knew anything about lyme and taking more precautions, like perhaps taking a certain antibiotic before the cleaning to advert an infection. He said he had heard about lyme a couple of years ago. I don't really want to go back to him and am scared to get my teeth cleaned again. If I became brave enough, I was going to take herbal antibiotics such as echinacea and knotweed before and after. What experiences have all of you had and what herbal antibiotics and doses would you take?
Guest guest
If you are not averse to prophylactic abx, you might ask a dentist for those before and after. People with implants (valve, knee, etc.) have to do this. Another thought is to take colloidal silver before and after. deb > > > Is there a list of lyme literate dentists? Guest guest
I tend to feel sick after dental appts, including cleanings. In fact, this was one of my first lyme symptoms that began surfacing before I knew I had lyme. There is a dentist in St. Louis that will often culture saliva, and if he sees spirochettes, will pre-treat with chlorhexadrine. I have done that prophalacticly, but I haven't seen any difference in terms of how I feel afterwards. Chlorhexadrine is pretty harsh. I think I am just going to use CS next time. > > > What experiences have all of you had and what herbal antibiotics and doses would > you take? > > > > > >
Guest guest
I had a diagnosis of mitral valve prolapse before I got Lyme etc. It is standard protocol to pre-treat with antibiotics before a dental cleaning or major dental work and has been so for years. Recent American dental conferences have been recommending dentists to pre-treat with antibiotics for many more conditions. My molar crumbled a few days ago and I went straight to the nearest dentist who didn't ask about my history, nor did I think to get antibiotics (I was horrified that this had happened to me - some cruel joke after I had just taught a dental hygiene unit to youngsters!). Well, I bled a lot during the procedure and later had a HORRIFIC reaction. I'm not taking chances again...  Shelter Pups Rock!...find your new best friend @ http://www.awla.org http://fpm.petfinder.com/petlist/petlist.cgi?shelter=VA252 & status=A & age= & animal=\ & title=AnimalWelfare League of Arlington: Adoptable Pets & style=1 & ref=KfueNX33qmb5_RO ________________________________ From: Barham <rebecca.barham@...> Sent: Sun, January 9, 2011 5:39:44 PM Subject: [ ] Lyme and getting teeth cleaned  Is there a list of lyme literate dentists? Guest guest
Spirochetes are normal flora in the mouth so culturing for them doesn't make sense? If you have amalgams, that might be why you feel sick. Have you seen the smoking tooth video? Polishing an amalgam (even chewing with or rubbing one) releases mercury vapor. deb > > I tend to feel sick after dental appts, including cleanings. Guest guest
> > Spirochetes are normal flora in the mouth so culturing for them doesn't make sense? yes, but these are spirochetes like Treponema denticola, that are relatively harmless - NOT dangerous ones like Borrelia or Treponema pallidum. This is even a problem with testing blood samples: after brushing your teeth (and certainly after a visit to the dentist), you can find some spirochetes in the bloodstream. The best-quality directory of holistic/biological dentists I know of is www.iaomt.org/patients/search.aspx (best quality directory). The largest such directory I know of is www.dentalwellness4u.com/freeservices/find_dentists.html If you live in a major U.S. city, feel free to email me, and I'll see if I know of good holistic/biological dentists in the city. Guest guest
I am in a similar situation in that I am getting ready to have a root canal retreated by a holistic dentist. And I am wanting to do the right antibiotic. Unfortunately the dentist isn't that familiar with Lyme. I have not taken any antibiotics for lyme. I have treated with herbs, homeopathy and IMT. I am looking to take antibiotics before and after getting my root canal retreated because I think it is an opportunity to get at bacteria that will be exposed by the treatment. The dentist will also be doing an ozone treatment. I had some ozone injected into the area of the affected tooth and had a herx that evening of vertigo and head pressure. Most likely erlichia. Any advice on what kind of antibiotic to request. I don't do well in general with antibiotics, but seem to do OK with amoxicillan. That is what I am thinking of doing, but wanted to get advice of others here. Thanks in advance for any advice. Dee > > > Is there a list of lyme literate dentists?
