" The past 13 months (when I had my cholesterol checked last) I have climbed 66 points. That's crazy to me as I am NOT overweight, very active, gluten & sugar free and I eat really well. Outside of hereditary explanations....is anyone aware of these herbs possibly increasing my levels? I don't have experience with this, but I guess something in your gut is changing as a result of the herbs. I would not worry about it, cholesterol itself is not bad, it is just statistically correlated to certain weigh/heart issues. Some of the Buhner herbs have actions that are similar to some hormones, so that could also be a factor.
Guest guest
I'm not sure how herbs effect cholesterol so I can't comment there. You might want to experiment with decreasing your intake of meat and dairy since these all contain cholesterol. Increase your fruit and veggie intake as these contain no cholesterol. Just a thought... On Thu, Feb 17, 2011 at 10:28 PM, Ride4Ever <tomreed3339@...> wrote: > > > I have been on the Buhner protocol (Cat's Claw, Andrographis, Vit. Guest guest
You might want to look into food grade diatomaceous earth (DE). This has a lot of benefits but one of them supposedly is to lower cholesterol. It's also good as an anti-parasite treatment plus it has silica which is an essential mineral for skin, hair, collagen, etc. Note that it also has chelating properties. http://www.globalhealingcenter.com/diatomaceous-earth.html The article closes with the mention of it working as a natural insecticide. I can attest that it works incredibly well. I found an ant nest in my house. I didn't know what it was - thought it was just some dirt so I took a dustbuster to it and the ants came pouring out. Ran upstairs and did a quick google search, found the reference to DE and poured some on the floor and the ants disappeared and have never returned. Some say you can use it to dust a mattress and then put sheets over it and this should prevent bedbugs. I haven't had the occasion to try it but given the success with the ants, I don't doubt it would work. deb > > > > > > > I have been on the Buhner protocol (Cat's Claw, Andrographis, Vit. Guest guest
This is curious to me as these levels seem so high. I'm also wondering because of an issue I just posted about (elevated liver enzymes on my last blood test). I've also had nausea and some abdominal pain and so my PCP was wondering about gallstones - and aren't gallstones caused by excess cholesterol deposits?? So I would like to find out the answer to this too.
Guest guest
I have NO idea if this is true or not, but I have heard alot of people having to have their gallbladders removed because of long term antibiotic treatment. Would love to know if that's true. On Sat, Feb 19, 2011 at 11:39 AM, karend27 <karend27@...> wrote: > > > This is curious to me as these levels seem so high. Guest guest
That is a complication of IV Rocephin (via PICC line). I had to go on a very low fat diet to avoid developing gall bladder sludge or stones. If you are not on IV Rocephin, I don't think it's a problem. Guest guest
My cholesterol also spiked to 322 four months after I started the protocol, but there is no indication that the protocol has caused it. I discontinued Cats Claw due to a skin allergy reaction but have continued with Eulethero and Resveratrol. My new LLMD added several other homeopathic supplements, new round of detox treatments, including liver detox, and indicated that he expected my cholesterol to go back to normal levels in about 6 to 8 weeks.
