Guest guest
What is involved with " general detoxing. " ? I've been herxing for 3 weeks (it started after 2 weeks on first ABx treatment, when I began taking long hot showers daily--a recommendation I found in a research paper). The treatment was Doxcycline for 30 days & Cat's Claw (integrative MD).? These are the most intense symptoms I've had since it all began 5 1/2 years ago!? So I cut back on the Cat's Claw (Samento) which I was taking a lot of.?? I'm taking a lot of Vit. C and Alka Seltzer C.? I have charcoal tabs but haven't used many. Kim Re: [ ] Flagyl I would also like to add that herxing can be minimized if you also do plenty of general detoxing to flush out the debris and toxins. Guest guest
I heard that alinia works the same as flagyl but has less side effects? Is that true or does flagyl do something that alinia doesn't? I just heard flagyl has some particularly nasty side effects. Thanks Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry Re: [ ] Flagyl If you do take Flagyl again, see if you can start on a really low dose and gradually work up in order to minimize herxing. Good luck! Guest guest
Thanks for all the good suggestions. I need to check my starting dose to see what it is. Then I'll talk to the doctor about starting out slower. At this point, I've been on Bicillin for six months and was feeling so good. But my LLMD and I discussed the fact that the spirochetes can go into cyst form or be hidden within biofilm. We agreed to add the Flagyl to kill off any of these " hidden " spirochetes. I want them out of my brain and not embedded in any of my other organ tissues! The only issue with detoxing is that the homeopathic detox kit I bought (which has been working well) has alcohol in the remedies. It's a trace amount, but on the Flagyl container it says to not drink (which I don't do anyway) and watch for any alcohol that might be contained in other things. So I might have to discontinue using the detox kit. I'll consult with my LLMD first. Janet

Some tolerate it better. My son did 14 days of Alinia. One of the hardest meds he has taken. Best,

If you just started on ABX and are a chronic Lymie, it is important to start slowly with the flagyl (and not with the maximum dose right away, you could land in the emergency room). I have used flagyl continuously for several months, and it is used for other medical issues on a continuous basis without know adverse effects. But usually with lyme it is suggested to use flagyl e.g. half a week on, half a week off, or ten days on and ten days off. Best to stick to what your doctor recommends. I think the pulsed use is mostly because flagyl is potentially carcinogenic. Flagyl is used as a cyst buster, using it form time to time instead of continuously should be OK and just as effective.
