The first symptom of post-acute Lyme, in my case, was hypothyroidism. I had

received 2 weeks of Doxy for acute Lyme (classic bull's eye rash &

symptoms).Apparently that was not sufficient. A year and a half later I was

diagnosed with hypothyroidism and put on Synthroid. I did not have

Hashimoto's.I assumed that I did even though no MD every said I did. The

second endocrinologist I consulted noted my thyroid was smaller than normal.

The frustrating part is I spent years attributing my symptoms to my thyroid

problem. It took 6+ years to get a Lyme diagnosis as my symptoms became much

more severe.

autoimmune disorder. I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditus but I think it's being

caused by the lyme. I didn't see anything in Healing Lyme about this caution.

Anyone have thoughts on that?

I would guess that the Hashimoto is a wrong diagnosis in your case, that it

really is a Lyme sideeffect. Many Lyme patients have auto-immune like symptoms,

but this doesn't mean that they are really auto-immune (although IDSA keeps

talking about it, there is no credible scientific evidence for that theory).

But just to be sure, try to keep an eye on symptoms of the 'Hashimoto' disorder.
