Guest guest
> > > The first symptom of post-acute Lyme, in my case, was hypothyroidism. this is a general problem with Lyme, causing frequent misdiagnosis. And maybe in some cases these problems are a factor in getting Lyme disease (e.g. because they weaken the immune system). I had several hypothyroidism symptoms about a year after EM and lyme problems started, e.g. severe weight loss, very low temperatures, hair loss etc. But my blood values for thyroid were normal (although I have heard that doesn't say much). Most of these 'thyroid' issues are milder now that most my other Lyme symptoms have decreased. So maybe it often comes and goes with the Lyme disease. You can see the same pattern with gluten allergy, liver/galbladder problems and many other disorders. Sometimes they start before the lyme disease is diagnosed, but often one is not entirely sure when the lyme really started. Sometimes the problems surface after starting treatment for lyme disease.
