Guest guest
Pam, I had this for a long time and it turned out I was chemically sensitive to my bed. everyone's different, but i found I was reacting to flame retardants and god knows what chemicals in my " hypoallergenic mattress " . eventually i got an organic mattress (they're expensive - mine's wool) and this stopped happening. i also wash my hair before going to bed w/ a non-scented shampoo because that way i won't be reacting to exhaust and other chemicals off-gassing from my hair that I picked up during the day. sounds crazy but it's amazing what lyme can cause. i also don't take medications before going to sleep. melatonin works great for putting me to sleep when i wake up in the middle of the night. the less you take the better it works. everyone has to find their own dose. Guest guest
Pam, you may be low on Magnesium. Lyme bacteria consumes it and sleeplessness and anxiety are both typical symptoms of Magnesium deficiency. Just try searching Magnesium + Anxiety. I take Cal/Mag every day according to the recommended dose and then I take Magnesium on top of that, both 3 times a day. They say to take it until you get a bit of diarrhea and then back off a bit. That way you know your body has all it needs. There are many different types of Magnesium (malate, citrate, and oxide to name a few) and some people seem to do better on one than the other so it's best to take more than one type. Or if one type doesn't seem to help try a different one. You should notice improvement very quickly as long as you take enough. Other symptoms of Magnesium deficiency besides anxiety and insomnia are..Heart palpitations, leg spasms, constipation, headaches and migraines, angina, anger, sensitive to light and sound, difficulty swallowing, panic attacks. Lots of these are typical Lyme Disease symptoms too. So I wonder if a lot of Lyme symptoms aren't caused by lack of Magnesium. I've noticed a big difference since I started taking the extra magnesium and I had all of these symptoms. So I highly recommend giving it a try. There aren't many counterindications but I did find this on one website...Precautions: People on certain antibiotics shouldn't take magnesium. Magnesium inhibits absorption of tetracyclines, ciprofloxacin, vancomycin, isoniazid, chlorpromazine, trimethoprim, nitrofurantoin and sodium fluoride. Take these medications two to three hours before or after magnesium. As always this information is for educational purposes only. Please consult your doctor before taking any medical steps. Guest guest
Definitely - bedtime/sleep anxiety attacks to the point that I dreaded going to bed at night! Xanax did help me, however I was often too anxious to take the Xanax pnce the anxiety took over! And this also went away after antibiotic treatment for Lyme, and it comes back as a symptom when I am going through a bad spell or taking time off from ABX. Sometimes it got worse after a " busy " day, when something out of the usual happened, good or bad - i.e. mnaybe a friend was over or maybe I went out that day to visit someone or go to the movies. I have a sublingual melatonin and I take calcium+magnesium, extra Bs, many supplements, which may all have helped. Edith > > I am having problems with severe anxiety at night after going to sleep. Guest guest
Hi Pam - Anxiety and insomnia have been two huge problems for me too! And the anxiety and sleep deprivation make our disease worse! I use Melatonin 6g and Gaba 750 mg - you can find the best prices through my website at www.LymeDiseaseResource.com under the " Relieve Symptoms " tab. I could probably get by for a few days without the Melatonin but the Gaba changed my life! Taken together before bed I sleep undisturbed for 10 - 12 hours!! And I wake up feeling better (wish it would last but as soon as I try to stand...well, lets just say I have a way to go, but I am getting better and I know sleep is a big part of it. Try the Gaba and let me know how you like it - it helps with pain too! Blessings, Jenna > > > > > I am having problems with severe anxiety at night after going to > sleep. Guest guest
you can also try Eleuthero tincture for adrenal support. Buhner suggests it also.
