Guest guest
Hi Ari, i'm a grad student (and am on leave due to Lyme) and i have had what i consider significant cognitive problems. the three things my LLMD has recommended...and i'm not sure if youre sick of herbal stuff and only want meds...but here's what he told me to take to improve brain function (and do a neurodetox of the brain): 1. Pinella Extract ( " Brain Nerve Cleanse " )by NutraMedix 2. Chlorella which i think you can buy at health food stores 3. Fish Oil (Nordic Naturals seems to be the best from what i've been told) I take the EPA xtra. this one is good for the brain and i have an article on Fish Oil and ...uh...sorry brain freeze. I can't remember..its either mental health or mental functioning which i can scan and send you if you want. the first two i got at my doctor's office's products department. the third i ordered from Nordic Naturals or have gotten at a health food store. I have anxiety problems too and avoid stimulants of all kinds (including, sigh, caffeine). good luck, St.
Guest guest
Hi Ari, I am a student also and I hear your pain. I am not sure that simply increasing bloodflow will help your concentration. I would be careful about what I took regarding this, the old brain isnt really something to " test " out drugs on. I suggest going to a Dr. of osteopathy, D.O. as they are well versed in herbs...Good luck! Let us know what you find out! Cecelia! > > Greetings. I am desperate to find a way of boosting the blood-flow to my brain. Normally I am a high-functioning student but thanks to a long-term Lyme infection I have been having real trouble keeping my head above water. A Spect scan revealed problems with blood flow to the brain. I've been relying on caffeine but this can only be used for awhile before terrible side effects develop. > > Aniracetam has been recommended as a possible means of promoting blood-flow and boosting concentration. Has anyone on the list used it effectively for the kind of problems I'm struggling with? Are there side effects that Lymies need to be especially concerned with? I have had a lifelong struggle with anxiety so I am always concerned about avoiding that. I have also had past issues with addiction to prescription drugs. I need to insure that anything I take which is nootropic will be non-habit forming. > > Another treatment that has come up is the formula called Attend by Vaxa. Attend is well-reputed but I've yet to learn whether it improves blood flow. Does anyone know whether it has that property? Guest guest
Hi Ari, I think Buhner mentions vincamine (periwinkle) hich is supposed to help memory, cognitive function and increase blood flow to the brain. i haven't tried it yet but it's on p. 164 of my version. Guest guest
I am grateful for your post Ari. I am looking for brain support supplements at this time also. I already take ginko and bacopa. Have been considering piracetam again (I took it years ago along with several other brain supplements but had to stop because the combination began to interfere with sleep). If you find answers to the blood flow issue, I would appreciate the answers myself. jo > > Greetings. I am desperate to find a way of boosting the blood-flow to my brain. Guest guest
I have used periwinkle in tincture form for a couple of years. I have been out for awhile now, but got to make some more tincture of it soon. I have been trying to use different things at different times now so my body doesn't get so accustomed to it for so long. Would be grateful for any input about your experiences. Thanks..... Peace and joy, yarrow > > > Greetings. I am desperate to find a way of boosting the blood-flow > > to my brain.
