Guest guest
I prefer tinctures over capsules anyday..i know the argument that you are getting the whole herb when taking powder but i believe that if you use the correct menstrum when tincturing you are getting most of the medicinal constituents of the plant less the fiberous parts. I make all of my herbs into tinctures or strong infusions...there is a great book called " Making Plant Medicine " by Richo Cech that tells you how to make the best tinctures, syrups, decoctions for many herbs. I teach classes and at the local college on how to make plant medicine, i am not scientific at all and my approach is somewhat simple but my mentors are moutain women/men who where very simple in their approach to medicine. I believe for us lyme folks it is imperative and cost effective for us to grow and make our medicine if we can. It can seem intimidating at first but once you make your first jar of tincture and use it and it works...the possibilities are endless!!!!! Guest guest
There are two US Herb Farms that I have used over the years: Pacific Botanicals & Frontier. Both have solid reputations as quality purveyors- mostly of fresh or dried. Extensive lists for all of the most commonly used herbs. Pacific Botanical will call you if requested during harvest time in case you want a fresh herb. As for chopping or getting herbs into powder form, Buhner and others use a VitaMix - which is an investment piece - expensive in the short term, but so many swear by this device as it is the post powerful motor for grinding - some use it to make flour out of grain for instance. It's on my " wish list " researching the refurbs. to see if I could afford one sometime this year. > > I prefer tinctures over capsules anyday..i know the argument that you are getting the whole herb when taking powder but i believe that if you use the correct menstrum when tincturing you are getting most of the medicinal constituents of the plant less the fiberous parts.
