Guest guest
Hi Alison, if you scored high on the adrenal questionnaire then yes, start taking Nutri Adrenal Extra by taking one tablet with breakfast for 10 days, and then increasing by another tablet but take that one with lunch (you don't take NAE after 1.00p.m.). After another 10 to 14 days, add another tablet and take that with breakfast. You can take up to 6 tablets daily, but if this is not helping, it might be that you need a short course of hydrocortisone, but we will meet that if and when it arises. Most folk do very well on Nutri Adrenal Extra. You should take this with high doses of vitamin C 2/3000 mgs daily, 200mcgs Selenium daily with food, a good brand of B complex, and 15mgs zinc. To help boost your adrenals too, you should take Siberian Ginseng (quite cheap at Health Food stores - Siberian is best) and liquorice root. It would help also if you started using Himalayan Salt as this contains over 89 essential minerals. Do you crave salt now? Both Dr P and Dr S are excellent but Dr S does not treat adrenal fatigue, but you can look after this side yourself. Dr Peatfield takes adrenal fatigue extremely seriously. Do you happen to have his Book 'Your Thyroid and How to Keep it Healthy'. If not, I would recommend that you buy it, it is quite cheap through Amazon. You need to treat your adrenal fatigue before even thinking of starting any thyroid hormone replacement. Meanwhile, ask your GP to test your levels of iron, transferrin saturation, ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper and zinc. Luv - Sheila Oh Finola that is fantastic news! I am not sure who to see Dr P or Dr Skinner. I have done the adrenal test questionnaire on here and it's shows I have a fairly severe type of adrenal fatigue. Should I try what you have taken or wait to see one of the doctors? I'm a bit confused what's the best course of action and all the info is a bit much for my poor foggy brain! Guest guest
Your doctor will only test your blood first thing in a morning for cortisol, and this test shows in most cases, their patients do not have low levels. They are checking only to see whether you have 's or Cushing's Syndrome and know nothing about adrenal fatigue. You would be best to get the 24 hour salivary adrenal profile through Genova to see where cortisol and DHEA lie at 8.00a.m. 12 noon, 4.00p.m. and again at midnight. See our FILES SECTION and on the page that opens, scroll down to the folder entitled 'Discounts on Tests and supplements' Luv - Sheila Thank you Finola, this is all so good to hear. Will wait to hear what some of the others think about me starting adrenal support straight away or maybe i should get the test done with Genova first?Got a feeling it would take ages for me to get test done through my doc. Guest guest
Ask your GP if he has received them, and if not, telephone the consultants secretary at the hospital and ask her to let you have these, but don't forget to get the reference range for each of the tests done too. Luv - Sheila Thank you Lilian.I've just made an appt to see Dr Peatfield on May 8th but they will let me know if theres a cancellation so it may be sooner. He has asked for results of any blood tests i've had.My last ones were 2 weeks ago at Salisbury hospital.Would they send results to my doctor or would i need to get them direct from the hospital?
