So called Lyme cures with Bismuth originated with injectable forms...see

below...Ive found not much on ingestibles and really dont know where the leap to

this came from

from: Law firm website:

" Below is a FDA news release regarding the use of bismacine, also known as

chromacine, an “alternative health†product that has been used to treat Lyme

disease.   The bismacine (chromacine) contains high amounts of bismuth and is

injected into the patient.  This can cause bismuth poisoning, which can lead to

death or serious injury, including cardio-vascular collapse and kidney

failure.  Cardio-vascular collapse is “the sudden loss of consciousness due

to failure of the heart to pump enough blood to the brain (2). "   It is a

life-threatening event.  Pritzker | Ruohonen & Associates, P.A., a premier

product liability law firm, is reprinting the FDA news release regarding

bismacine (chromacine) and bismuth poisoning as a public service. "

FDA Warns Consumers and Health Care Providers Not to Use Bismacine, also known

as Chromacine

July 21, 2006 – The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) is warning consumers

and health care providers not to use a product called " bismacine, " also known as

chromacine.  The FDA is investigating one report of a death and several reports

of injury related to the administration of bismacine.

Bismacine is an injectable product that has been used to treat Lyme disease.

But bismacine is not approved for anything, including Lyme disease.

Bismacine is not a pharmaceutical and is mixed individually by druggists.  It

is prescribed or administered by doctors of " alternative health " or by people

claiming to be medical doctors.

This product contains high amounts of bismuth, a heavy metal that

for ULCERS the form of bismuth used is bismuth subsalicylate and a citrated form

and many studies admit theyre not sure if its the salicylate part ( vs the

bismuth itself) thats the effector.

medsafe.gov:

can cause renal impairment

Prolonged and excessive use of bismuth compounds in the past has occasionally

led to reversible encephalopathy

my question is with many of us already having encephalopathic type sx HOW would

you know if its the Lyme or the Bismuth???

BISMUTH CITRATE:

Severe Interaction:

Action is required to reduce the risk of severe adverse interaction.

DI-TRIVALENT CATIONS/TETRACYCLINES - Decreased effect of the latter drug

Moderate Interaction:

Assess the risk to the patient and take action as needed.

DI-; TRIVALENT CATIONS/CHLOROQUINE; HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE - Decreased effect of

the former drug

CONTRAINDICATIONS:

Most Significant

Lactating Mother

Significant

Blood Coagulation Disorder, Diabetes Mellitus

Possibly Significant

Gout, Renal Disease

BACTERIA- H.pylori vs Borrelia

H Pylori for which Bismuth PLUS tetracyclines ( and also often Flagyl added) are

indicated are gram negative helical ( spiral shaped)bacteria with

flagella...they are " Campylobacter " type

classified as:Bacteria; Proteobacteria; delta/epsilon subdivisions;

Epsilonproteobacteria; Campylobacterales; Helicobacteraceae

these have single circular chromosomes

other than sharing the fact of being part of the Kingdom of " bacteria " , and

spiral shapes theyre NOTHING alike to even assume similar treatment ( tx

usually target repro methods or living requirements, or surface immunity etc so

similar tx often target similar traits- i.e. the way penicillins target cell

walls...they try to stop cell walls from reforming in reproducing bacteria and

THATS why pens are almost useless if bacteria dont have cell walls or repro too

slowly!!!)

Pylori cell structure and metabolism is vastly different than Borrelia (

causing Lyme) species.

Borrelia are SPIROCHETES and classified as :

Bacteria; Spirochaetes; Spriochaetes (class); Spirochaetales; Spirochaetaceae;

Borrelia

these have numerous complex chromosomes ( indicating highly evolved), and a

double membrane.

Before we promote the use of " alternative " things we need to have solid info on

the reasoning, safety and efficacy!! Its only MY opinion, but shot-gun

approaches are very risky.

Be well AND safe
