Guest guest
Most of the herbs won't mix with water or juice. Some taste okay, but Andrographis is unGodly bitter and I would NEVER take it that way. You need to measure carefully also. Capsules do it automatically. BUt your choice, I guess as long as you can keep tract of it. And yes, most are recommended in powder form by Buhner. Tinctures usually will get the elements into your body better than the decoctions. Usually. I also just started making decoctions with Artimisia, Boneset, Smilax, Knotweed, and Stephania. After reading a bit on the Planet Thrive website it seems for most herbs Buhner recommends using the whole plant over the tincture/decoction. Anyway i am thinking about encapsulating my own herbs, especially the Knotweed and Stephania, but is there a benefit to encapsulating rather then just mixing the powder with water and drinking? Also are there some herbs that it would be more useful to make a nightly decoction with? Thanks --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Make your homepage. Guest guest
hiya everyone i bought most of my herbs from 1st chinese. 3 times a day i put maybe a quarter or half cup of kefir in a bowl and add (using the gram-sized spoon 1st chinese will send you ) powdered: 2 grams of smilax, a gram or more of knotweed, slightly less than a gram of stephania, a half gram of cat's claw, a heaping gram of milk thistle, 2 grams of turmeric, half a gram of ginger, a dash of cinnamon, and a heaping gram of stevia powder. stir it up, it is thick and strong tasting and i thinkit is delicious! this is definitely not carefully measured, all hastily eye-balled, and i probably use too much turmeric. i increase or decrease according to flare levels. i started out with just one herb, knotweed, and slowly added in the others. very slowly; i flare like crazy on everything. i also take one tablet of andrographis along with supps. this might work for some of you. i look forward to the sweet and spicey taste. it is important to add them in slowly so you can get to know each herb. for instance, i can't take andro or cat's claw for very long. they both upset my stomach after about a week. best to you all susan d > > Most of the herbs won't mix with water or juice. Guest guest
oops, forgot to mention that i put some lemon juice into the concoction if i am using cat's claw as it is best absorbed with some acid in your stomach. i've also started plopping in some of the pure powdered coq10 from now/iherb. be sure to take good fats and vitamin e if you do that. andrographis needs fats. xoxo susan d
