I'm short on time this morning, but it is important that you read the main article " How To Successfully Overcome Candida " first. I have been suffering from a deep, progressive fatigue for many years. It's finally gotten so bad that I went to a " natural doctor " who told me that I most likely have Candida, but there could possibly be thyroid involvement. I also have had chronic sinus infections for 20 years, several yeast infections over the last ten years, and problems with achy joints. I used to be a very energetic person, but gradually have become so exhausted that I can hardly make myself get out of bed. Guest guest
Ellie, One of my top 2 complaints has been major fatigue - I amost hate the word fatigue because it implies, " oh I need to sit and relax " when in fact major fatigue feels more to me like I can't walk much of any length and have very low blood sugar. My lower legs are weak and can't carry me very far. Some days it has been a miracle I didn't just lie in bed and sleep the day away. I do have thyroid issues but starting supplmentation didn't improve my condition very much. I am also very thin. When I began Bee's candida diet in Nov, I immediately started noticing more stamina (within 2 weeks), I started cooking dinners again, helping to clean the house again. 3 months later I was back out in the real world little by little - doing grocery shopping, for example! This was HUGE for me as I had left the real world for over a year or more while my husband did all the chores and errands and I sat at home feeling terrible and exhausted. I do highly recommend Bee's diet. Now that I have learned what I have, I feel everyone, even those who think they are healthy, can thrive on this diet (sure healthy people can be more liberal with it of course). I follow the diet and take all the supplements but am not as consistent on the chlorella. Also, die off can be awful and the ups and downs continue. But I am glad to have had somewhat of a social life/life outside my home again in the past 5 months, even if not yet consistently. Feel free to ask me anything of my experience. I hugely sympathize now whenever i hear anyone say they are tired. It can be terribly heartbreaking to have your life change so much from active to a human couch pillow. ~Anita " prairielake@... Guest guest
Hi Eilie, I also suffered from fatigue, as well as severe depression. The depression was the first thing to improve when I simply gave up sugar years ago (it improved even more due to the candida program). The fatigue worsened when I began my candida program and was very severe at times. It took at least 5 months to get beyond that point (but I was on a program that I feel was inferior to Bee's). I also took SF722 plus many other antifungals in my previous program. I can't say they don't work, but I feel that I am doing better taking cod liver oil, high vitamin butter oil, coconut oil, garlic, desiccated liver, chlorella, bone broths, home grown sprouts, homemade sauerkraut, omega 3 eggs, veggies, fish and meats. Notice that these are all foods. I also take the other vitamin supplements Bee suggests. I went the route of taking lots of supplements and very high doses of antifungals for about 10 months. My husband did the same. We spent as much as $2000 per month for this program through a nutritionist out of New York City. We improved but eventually became stuck. It was when we started to nourish ourselves better and eat cultured vegetables (i.e. the kraut) that we started to move ahead in our healing again. After reading Weston Price's Nutrition and Physical Degeneration I stumbled upon Bee's group and knew that this was the best thing because her program was totally consistent with Dr. Price's work, yet was geared specifically to candida (i.e. a low carb version). You may make good progress with your current program, but be sure to educate yourself about nutrition so that you can make good decisions for yourself. Dr. Price's book is fascinating reading and I doubt that anyone who reads it can look at food in the same way again. I am just now reading Sugar Blues. I now look at sugar as a drug. I used to be a sugar addict also. It is possible to kick the habit. Your body and mind will thank you. Another great book is Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon. There is a wonderful summary of nutrition principles (based on Price's work) at the beginning of the book, wonderful traditional recipes, and also exerpts from other writings on each page throughout the cookbook. Like you I was always average in weight and also had chronic sinus problems, as well as headaches, and sore throats. I had a septoplasty done years ago which helped. After changing my diet I have the amazing ability to breathe through my nose most of the time, very rarely have headaches, and never get sore throats. Ah, the miracle of healthy food! You don't need to feel this way forever. The sooner you begin nourishing your body, the sooner you will achieve optimum health. Prior to that my energy levels were really good even though I had candida. That definitely confirmed for me what my problem was as the fatigue is caused by the candida being killed off. Someone who doesn't have candida wouldn't get fatigue or any other die off symptoms from a candida program. I was doing a diff. program previously, and I think we were doing too much too soon and I could hardly walk I was so tired. Not good when I have 3 young children. After starting bees program, I have still been fatigued, but I am functional. I also have problems sleeping sometimes as well. Sometimes I feel very wired even though I am exhausted. I know the VCO causes die off as well. I think for me it has mostly caused stomach aches and bloating which is also yeast being killed. However, I'm sure it has contributed to my fatigue. You may need to go a little more slowly with the VCO. Oh, and yes the B vitamins definitely help. I wouldn't be without them! Hope this helps! Guest guest
hi all another factor that could be contributing to the fatigue is this season of pollen - from what i've heard through other groups, from folks in different parts of the US, allergies to pollen & grasses are a whopper this year! i can say that here in belgium, my symptoms are going nuts. all the trees, flowers and grasses are popping out all around me - absolutely beautiful, but i'm wiped out. (aside from the sneezing & wheezing and some days with the itchy eyes, i'm physically and mentally pooped). other than that, yes, its true, fatigue & weakness are two of the first things to hit a lot of us when we first begin the candida program. i do believe its mostly a " die off " reaction. physiologically, i'm not the best able to describe what happens to cause it, and i'm especially dim-witted these past couple of days! yesterday and today i feel like i could just flop down on the couch and not move for hours. rest as much as you can, your body is asking for it and will benefit from any 'downtime' you can get. take good care and keep with it, you really can feel better! ~ suz > > Since going completely onto Bee's diet ( almost 3 wks) I have been > > so fatigued, my first challenge was the constipation, I felt like I > > was never gonna get over it, but since I've been taking magnesium > > Ive been able to go, really happy about that. It is possible that the dose is too high for you at this time, even though 5-6 tablespoons is the recommended therapeutic dose. It may be pushing your body too hard into healing. Try cutting back to half that amount and very gradually increase it again up to 5-6 tablespoons, but only increase the amount every 4-5 days. Also do not take coconut oil too close to bedtime. It provides so much energy it can keep you awake. > I know this is a common problem, but can anyone explain why the > fatigue happens? Try to start on them asap. > > any other ex-fatiguers and their comments would help to inspire, (I > got the blues and Im feeling really sick and tired and wondering if > this is ever gonna end.) ==>I am very familiar with fatigue. When I had candida in the mid 1980s I could only be out of bed for about an hour at a time. Epsom salt baths, coffee enemas and dry skin brushing will help re-energize you. Guest guest
Kat, If you need encouragement for the fatigue, here it is - it will come and go for a while, but the times when it passes, you will feel so much better. If you are not taking the supplments though, I would highly recommed you do, esp b vitamins you are not currently taking. Also, I got these strange emotional, weary, angry feelings there for a short while and it was uncharacteristic of me but it was as if buried emotions came out to the surface somehow. I am not sure how to explain this. Anyhow, my point is that this passed and lately I have some sort of strange euphoric " high " that rises and then levels out. It is really nice and I had never considered myself a depressed person but I feel extreme happiness like I don't remember feeling before at times now. I have to say, this has been a very weird ride! I know " hang in there " doesn't help too much when you're in the middle of feeling lousy, but please do and let us know how you are very soon. ~Anita mangogal67 <mangogal67@...> wrote: I know this is a common problem, but can anyone explain why the fatigue happens? Guest guest
Hi Jolynn, I've been thinking a lot about your post regarding daily fatigue. I've had a similar problem for a long time. I collapse every day around 4 or 5 and sometimes absolutely must go to sleep - I just can't keep my eyes open. I also have a hard time waking up in the morning almost every day even though I get enough sleep and good sleep. I agree with Cam that it's very important that you get a blood test, especially to see if you're anemic or if you have an underactive or overactive thyroid - either can make you tired. I myself had most of my throid removed several years ago because I had an overactive thyroid gland and couldn't tolerate any of the meds for that illness. Since then I've been taking a synthetic thyroid hormone (thyroxine - one pill daily). But medications, pain and diet sometimes interfere with my body's absorption of the hormone and I always can tell because I've become exquisitely sensitive to the signals - such as a restless leg when I have too much hormone, and fatigue and weight gain when I have too little. But beyond the thyroid, I've been reading about ways to increase energy through one's diet. The experts say that spikes in insulin (blood sugar) lead to fatigue (for a variety of reasons) and they recommend having protein at every meal (meat, fish, egg white, or dairy) and minimizing carbohydrates in the form of bread, pasta, and rice while increasing beneficial carbohydrates in the form of vegetables and fruit. One researcher suggests thinking about your plate as divided into 3 equal sections (for all your meals) so that you have an equal amount of protein, fruit and vegetables (each making up a third of your plate) on it. Also, some researchers suggest having a protein shake every morning for breakfast: 1.5 cups frozen berries/1 cup skim milk/one serving of whey protein (concentrated protein from eggs), blended in a blender, with or without ice, along with 2 to 4 capsules of pharmaceutical grade fish oil. I've just started this pattern of eating as of one week and I do notice some differences - I don't need the afternoon nap - but I still can't get up in the morning. I'll stay on it for 3 months and check my level of fatigue (and other symptoms I'm trying to better manage). I hope I've given you some ideas to think about (even if you don't pursue the more-protein-in-your-diet diet). Please let us know how you're doing. I wish you much good luck. It really stinks to have so much fatigue. Guest guest
Wouldn't you know that as sson as I post this concern I have 2 great days with no need for a nap and no problems waking up. I Have been spending a significant amount of time outdoors with the kids laying out by the pool and maybe that has helped. I look into the eating thing. I eat extremely healthy and avoid white breads, pastas, chips and such but my weakness is sweeats which I think I eat a littel too much of. Thanks for the sugestions. Guest guest
No. And we are a big household. no one else is sick. Although, my mom and a couple relatives are a lil bit more fatigued than usual...but no other symptoms. Today is the first cool day in my area and i notice my body aches so bad, my fatigue is worse and brain fog is acting up. Does the weather make this crap flair up??! Im scared ..i was soooo debilitated last fall/winter. Leigh McCall-Alton <mccallalton@...> wrote: do you live in a moldy house or area???? Actually it didn't cope all that well, because I had my tonsils out when I was 6. They were always enlarged, but not infected- probably a result of my dairy intolerance. I probably shouldn't have had it at all. It has been slightly over a year now since I eliminated dairy. I also showed high IgG levels to goat's milk on the test I took last fall. I hadn't even realized I was exposed to goat's milk. I imagine it is the casein in that I am reacting to as well. Guest guest
The best way to test for candida is to eliminate all sugars from your diet and see if you first get sick (die-off) and then get well. In any case you will feel better. > Anyone have fatigue/achy body/anxiety/cognitive issues? > i THINK i have fibromyaglia or CFS. > I also read a book linking candida with these conditions.
