Guest guest
We did a few different methods to test Lyme with IGeneX and did not get a sense of certainty as to whether our 5 years old has Lyme or not. Here is the result we got: Lyme: - Lyme Immunoflourescence Assay is negative. - Lyme IgM Western Blot can be interpreted as negative. However, " **39 kDa. " and " **83-93 kDa. " are indeterminate. And, " **41 kDa. " and " 58 kDa. " are positive. My son has a high titer to EBV, which might give a false positive result to any of these bands. The result is seemingly somehow inconclusive. - Lyme IgG Western Blot can be interpreted as negative. But, " **31 kDa " is indeterminate, and " **41 kDa " is positive. I think the result is somehow inconclusive. - Lyme Multiplex PCR is negative. Coinfections: - Babesia Immunoflourescence Assay is negative. - Babesia FISH (RNA) is positive. - A specific strain of Babesia, Babesia duncani tested via Immunoflourescence Assay results at B Duncani IgG 1:80, which may suggest evidence of infection. Positive? - Human Ehrlichiosis Immunoflourescence Assay results as 1:20 titer for Human Monocytic IgM. This may indicate progression of disease and/or treatment. Positive? - Bartonella henselae IgG is positive. It looks like we have got several Lyme coinfections confirmed - Babesia, Bartonella, and Ehrlichia - but not Lyme itself. Is this possible? Any thoughts or advice? Thank you very much. Limin
Guest guest
Limin well, IMHO after mucking about in the Lyme world over 18 years, its highly UNlikely that you have positives for so many coinfections ( and yes you read it correctly, they ARE positives) and NOT have Lyme too- what often happens is the Lyme goes dormant and/or the immune system stops dealing with it--too overwhelmed with the rest. Often the case: after treatment for the coinfections is underway a patient can become sero-positive with Lyme and/or show signs of it coming out of the woodwork!! Id get to a VERY experienced LLMD asap--you want the very best advice as there are some who feel that the order of treatment and what to combine makes a big difference in recovery!! Even with the EBV ( which may be latent/dormant and not a problem for now);consider yourself lucky that many of the tests are positive!! there are many who get repeated negatives and yet theyre still infected and still more with neg Lyme and no coinfections so they cant prove infection at all. good luck and keep us posted and a related chat area to this one is lyme aid parents also run/moderated by Robynn--you may get more help from those of us there!!
