Guest guest
Hi Dave, I have not used Cat's Claw, but I read that for Cat's Claw, you want to use a brand that is TOA-free. Tetracyclic oxindole alkaloids are found in traditional Cat's Claw; it disrupts central nervous system function and greatly inhibit the effects of the POAs, pentacyclic oxindole alkaloids, that are found in the plant that act on the cellular immune system and demonstrate powerful immune system modulating properties. I do not think that Source Naturals is TOA-free. Limin [ ] Source Naturals - Cat's Claw? > Hello, > > Has anybody used Source Naturals Cat's Claw? If so, what did/do you > think? Guest guest
I used it in the beginning before I encapsulated my own. It was fine. Guest guest
Limin: You are correct in that Source Naturals is NOT TOA free. You are incorrect in that you must take TOA free Cat's Claw. That is a wive's tale started by the people who make the TOA free stuff and theirs is the only test out there for that. IF you read Buhner's book THOROUGHLY you will see that he does NOT recommend TOA free Cat's Claw, but just the opposite. USE the COMPLETE WHOLE Cat's Claw herb. Best to just buy it in bulk from a reputable outfit such as 1st Chinese Herbs or StarWest Botanicals and encapsulate your own. That way you can be sure there are no fillers, etc.. Guest guest
Hi Limin, Thank you for the response; however, Buhner recommends the whole herb and not the TOA-free brands. Have you read his book. I have read the information on the TOA-free justification, but I am going to trust Buhner on this one. -Dave > > Hi Dave, > > I have not used Cat's Claw, but I read that for Cat's Claw, you want to use > a brand that is TOA-free. Guest guest
Hi Jim, Thank you for your response. I know you've been on the protocol for quite some time. Are you still taking Cat's claw? Is it something you take on a regular basis? Do you consider it one of your " main " herbs? Thanks -Dave > Hello, > > Has anybody used Source Naturals Cat's Claw? If so, what did/do you > think? Guest guest
Hi Dave: No I am not taking it right now, quit taking it a few months ago. I took it for about two years. And I do NOT consider it one of my main herbs, though it can be helpful. I consider Devil's Claw to be one of my main herbs, along with Sarsaparilla, Resveratrol and Stephania root, all in capsule form, and Red Root tincture. I take others too, but these I feel are the main ones. I took Andrographis for almost two years too, but don't take it anymore. I have been seriously taking herbs for this since November 25, 2005. I am on a maintenance program of MY choosing now. What I do take, I take every day. Jim ### <dsevenack@...> wrote: Hi Jim, Thank you for your response. Guest guest
, I use a less expensive brand NOW Cat's Claw 5000, 120 caps $14.94 (http://www.vitamin-pak.com/details/shop/NF-318) and I know for a fact that it works because I had my cd57 go from 28 to 150 over 5 months of IV treatment last year. Unfortunately, my LD retired and my primary care took me off all antibiotics - we tested 2 more times and it fell to 75 and then 30. Last Christmas my new LD put me back on IV treatment without Cat's Claw and my count didn't move over 3 months. So my experience fits Buhner's evidence, and if you haven't read his book " Healing Lyme " you really should! You can get a kit with the book and 2 bottles of each herb at: http://www.lymediseaseresource.com/Lyme_Combat_Kit.html I think his book is totally amazing. I couldn't get through these gigantic herxes without the sarsaparilla he wrote about! Good luck! Jenna www.LymeDiseaseResource.com jennasmith1@... Guest guest
Thanks for the update Jim. I'm a little torn between Cat's Claw and Andrographis right now. I don't want to take both because I'm taking too many supplements already, but wanted your opinion on which one to take over the other. If you had to choose between the two, which one would you choose? I'm am leaning towards andrographis at this point, for it spirochete killing ability and many others. Did you tolerate Andro well? Also, what brand of Devil's claw are you taking? Thanks -Dave > Hi Jim, > > Thank you for your response. I know you've been on the protocol for > quite some time. Are you still taking Cat's claw? Guest guest
Hi Dave: Not sure which of those two I would take if I could only take one. How about Cat's Claw and Stephania Root. I think those two in combination will do you more good than just one of the others you mention. Not sure what supplements you are taking, but do not consider the herbs as supplements. Consider them as more of a health food. I take them right along with my meals and they are actually the best part of my meal. I am taking StarWest Botanicals " brand " of Devil's Claw. I get it from 1st Chinese. I get it in bulk and encapsulate. If you don't want to encapsulate to save money, then I had Nature's Herbs brand. Don't remember where I bought them. Google them. They come in brown glass bottles which is great for storing your pills in. I also has gotten Sarsaparilla in that brand for the bottles. Now when I encapsulate them I have excellent bottles to put them in, better than plastic. I can tell you this, Dave, dabbling with just one or two herbs won't do you all that much good., Some but not much. You need to get serious and get on a GOOD regimen from Buhner's book, " Healing " Lyme. Then some supplements are good also, like effervescent Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Vitamin A. Take care, hope you get a handle on a good Protocol. Jim. ### <dsevenack@...> wrote: Thanks for the update Jim. I'm a little torn between Cat's Claw and Andrographis right now. Guest guest
Thanks again Jim. I was thinking about taking Andro, Resverstrol, and Sarsparilla. What do you think about that? I am also taking Vitamin C, E, A and a slew of others. My goal was to get on two " killer " herbs and one cleanser. Looking forward to your comments. -Dave > Thanks for the update Jim. Guest guest
Those are a good start . Then you can add others in later as you find you can take what you are already on. I would add in either Milk Thistle or Red Root too. Actually I take both. Milk Thistle in capsule form and Red Root in tincture form. There are a lot of other hebs that are good for you too, depending on your particular symptoms. Give it a shot, see where it takes you. Jim. ### <dsevenack@...> wrote: Thanks again Jim.
