Thanks I am sorry, thought my posts all the sudden

were being ignored,. I guess I was paranoid after

everything yesterday. Today is a new day. I will feel

differently. I am happy to be part of the group.

Well, I don’t know what you mean by “everything” but

all that happened is you were informed that your board directive was not followed. If you don’t want paranoia in your

life, don’t tell people what to do with information you post on a public

message board.

Hello April,

my name is Gilad and I'm a 22-year-old hard of hearing student. I was born

with a hearing problem due to maternal rubella (biological mother, not my

mom...). I have also been considering the CI surgery ever since I returned from

a conference in the United States last September. I finally decided to do it a

month ago and was approved just last week. I'm hoping to do it in April.

I welcome you warmly into the group and will be praying for your success in

the surgery as well. I hope it will be a wonderful gift for you for the new year

2006, so best wishes and many God's blessings for the surgery. Take a good care

of yourself and have a speedy recovery.

Sincerely yours, Gilad

HI April,

Welcome to the group. I am a little behind in reading the messages

but saw yours and wanted to welcome you too. Wow you have been able

to go through the process of getting a CI quickly and this week will

be your surgery. I made a note of it on my calendar to pray for you

and will look forward to your post on the website to read how

everything goes.

I am told by everyone that the surgery itself is routine and simple

and many go home from the hospital the same day of surgery. I am

waiting to have CI surgery but it is taking me longer to get a

surgery date than what you have experienced. Hopefully next month I

will have one.

This group has provided so many suggestions to use while you are

recovering from surgery and they all seem to say to relax and take

care of yourself.

My very best to you April.

Blessings,

Gardner

Hi, April,

Not that it's any consolation, but, yes, what you are experiencing with

your CI is normal. As time goes on, your brain will be able to tolerate more

sound. That is what this early period is all about. If you turn the volume

up incrementally, your brain will adjust to it gradually. Also, " playing

around " with the sensitivity (low numbers for hearing people close to you,

higher

numbers for those standing further away, in the Freedom, anyway) will make the

sound seem louder or softer, too. Many have experienced feeling as though the

sound is inside their head. Only be concerned if you start answering the

voices and nobody else is around. <giggling> I was implanted in my worst ear

and it is now my better ear, so don't let anyone tell you it doesn't work as

well in what was your worst ear. Good luck!

:o) Jackie

This sounds like the herb for me - especially today :-)

Grow-your-own Viagra craze hits Britain's garden centres By

Randall

Published: 01 April 2008 A chance discovery by a Berkshire allotment-

holder

that a plant widely available in garden centres has the same effect

on men as

Viagra has been confirmed by experts at one of the world's leading

botanical

institutions.

The plant is winter-flowering heather, and botanists at the Royal

Botanic

Gardens, Edinburgh, many of them heather experts who have recognised

the source

of its active ingredient, now expect it to be the next must-have

plant in

British gardens. Demand is already high. Nurseries and garden centres

in some

areas are having trouble finding sufficient supplies as word spreads

of the

plant's unexpected properties.

A spokesman for Wyevale Garden Centres, which has 106 UK branches,

said: " At

first, it was just a trickle of inquiries, but now stores are

virtually being

besieged each weekend. We have had men buying dozens of the plants

and, at one

store in Croydon, there were men old enough to know better fighting

over the

last remaining trays. "

The latest gardening craze was triggered by a discovery by a 55-year-

old

furniture restorer, Ford, on his allotment. He was always

experimenting

with drinks made from different plants and one day he tried an

infusion from his

winter-flowering heather. He said: " The effect was almost immediate.

I had to

stay in my potting shed for an hour or so before I could decently

walk down the

street. "

He then contacted the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh, famous for

their work

with the heather family, to see if they could offer an explanation.

They could.

Botanist Alan Bennell said: " This first surfaced when East European

chemists

reported finding a Viagra-type chemical in the floral tissues of

winter-flowering heaths. They were able to isolate measurable amounts

of

material that is an analogue of the active principle in Viagra. "

Winter-flowering heather, he explained, belongs to the genus a, a

close

relative of our own native heather. He said: " As yet, the active

ingredient has

not been found in these British forms, but it is proving to be most

concentrated

in many of the widely available hybrids sold as winter-flowering

heather in

garden centres. Particularly potent are forms of a carnea, the

Alpine

heather, whose range extends into the Balkans.

" The work of these biochemists and physiologists - much of it

disrupted and

lost during the ravages of war - is now coming to light. "

From the limited amount of information available, it is suggested the

Viagra-analogue is best extracted by steeping the detached small

flowers in neat

alcohol. An infusion of about 20g of flowers in 100ml of fluid

liberates the

active principle. A quality full-strength vodka (at least 40 per

cent) is also

effective. Mr Bennell added: " There is some confusion whether oral

consumption

or topical application is more effective. "

But not everyone is happy about this new discovery. One woman

shopping at a

Wyvales in Dorking yesterday said: " It's amazing. My husband has

never shown any

interest in gardening before, but now he's out there night and day

fussing over

his heathers. ly, I preferred it when he left the garden to me

and wasn't

so frisky. "

I am quite sure is very helpful to this group. However, we all need

We all need to be careful as to how our printed words are perceived to

Oh...I am QUITE careful...and I believe my words were quite light compared to

what I was thinking....

This gentleman needs to learn how to get across what he's thinking in a polite

manner...also always with the thought that they misunderstand...you NEVER

verbally attack someone like that if you are not positive that there could be a

misunderstanding...but this guy just jumpedthe gun and lashed out.

Maybe he will think first the next time... --- Babbitt

Oh Tracey,

I sooooo agree with you! For someone to write " Are you

simple or

something? " I felt my blood preasure rise in a New York min, I am an

empathetic

person and couldn't believe how stunned I was at those words. Donna

Lashed out? All I did was question how you seemed to be confused about what the

FDA was and how there was no corliation with Europe. You were the one that went

off the handle. Name calling etc...
