Guest guest Posted April 12, 2008 Report Share Posted April 12, 2008 Hi yes the MRI or CAT is the way to define Chiari--as its a description of how low the brain is sitting and how far under the opening ( foramen magnum) the brain ( cerebellum/cerebellar tonsils) are compared to normal people. you can have a very big Chiari (sitting very low) with no sx or a mild one ( sitting a tiny bit lower) and a lot of serious sx--so just having it isnt necessarily the issue--kind of like Lyme--its the sx and what if anything can be done as for the consult it may take 4-6 weeks for them to evaluate what I sent to them and decide if they can help eiother or both of us so it may be awhile---but Ill keep all informed Finette Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
