Are either of these helpful? Both were posted around January 06th this year. I

had them saved in a file.

Best Wishes

Just eyeballed?above and other?articles on using cryptolepis as an

anticholnergic agent. Specifically they found it to be anti muscarinic...i.e.

blocks certain parasympathetic actions at the neuro effector junction. This

means it acts like ATROPINE!!! and apparently VERY active for " just an herb " .

its vasodilating and adrenergic too!!

can be very dangerous for those with dysautonomias, autnomic disfunctions, those

on various meds for conditions that either dampen or elevate nervous system

and/or cardiovascular functions etc.

as always approach with caution, tell your Drs if you try this herb ( or better

yet BEFORE you do) and ask a good pharmacist IF you should even combine it with

current meds given YOUR health status. Remind the Dr and Pharm. that it is a "

antimuscarinic/anticholinergic " agent!!

be well

Finette

copied from " Lyme Matters " now defunct BUT?Jim ( knowledgeable, NP I

think)?professionally tied to Dr Burrascano edited/wrote the herbal section:

Cryptolepsis

Cryptolepsis is a shrub from the Asclepiadacea family. It has been used for

hundreds of years

in the treatment of many serious illnesses. It has the following benefits:

antiparasitic, antimalarial, antibacterial, antifungal. Human clinical trials

have shown cryptolepsis to be very effective in the

treatment of malaria. In fact, one of these trials showed this herb to clear

malarial symptoms in

a shorter time then its synthetic counterpart, chloroquine, and without the

side-effects associated

with that medication.

Taken Internally

Tea -- mix a teaspoon of cryptolepsis with 5 ounces of boiling water -- can be

taken up to twice a day

Tincture -- Make a 1:5 ratio mixture in 60 percent alcohol -- use between 20 -

40 drops up to four times

a day.

Capsule -- Take up to 3 capsules twice a day. Up to 20 capsules can be taken for

acute conditions provided

that you are under a homeopathic doctor's care.

Used Externally

Crush herb into a fine powder. It can be applied to an external bacterial or

fungal infection. Apply

up to four times per day.

*Caution -- While there are no warnings regarding this herb, people using it

should be aware that they may have, or may develop an allergy to cryptolepsis.

Should you develop a rash or experience any other odd symptoms while using this

herb, discontinue use of it immediately.

ALSO

MOST often spelled " cryptolepis " ? no " s "

There are a FEW different species in this genus so be careful...most often used

as antimalarial etc is C. sanguinolenta

also be aware that there confusingly?are plants whose SPECIES is " cryptolepis " :

as in Carex crytptolepis--I dont know?if even edible, let alone medicinal

you want GENUS cryptolepis!! ( itll be the FIRST name of the paired)

also used as HYPOGLYCEMIC ( helps Diabetes)...so be careful for those prone to

LOW blood sugar!!

ypu can try:

[ ] CRYPTOLEPSIS - new question

A while back, someone sent a post that explained some of what

cryptolepsis does internally. I went back recently, trying to find that

post so I could copy it to share with my doctor. Since I have not been

able to tolerate the crypto, I wanted to have her look at the info in

that post to see if it is ok for me to push through the symptom of

profound fatigue that it causes. Now I can't find it!!! Does anyone

remember who wrote it, when, etc??? Any hints will be appreciated.

Thanks, jo
