Many of the Renaissance Astrologers listed the various trees, flowers, herbs

and flowers that they believed fell under the dominion of the planets.

Unfortunately, the lists very rarely correspond in total. The following list is

compiled from Culpeper Complete Herbal, because of all of the Astrologers commonly

read, he argues against tradition in favour of experience, and often gives his

reasoning for choosing one rulership over another.

Saturn:

Trees and Shrubs - Beech, Elm, Holly, Ivy, Mealy Tree, Poplar, Sloe,

Tamarisk, Yew.

Flowers - Aramanthus, Cornflower, Gladiole, Safflower.

Herbs - Comfrey

Fruits and Vegetables - Red Beets, Medlar, Quince. All Mosses.

Jupiter:

Trees and Shrubs - Chestnut Tree, Fir, Maple, Mastic, Oak .

Flowers - Agrimony, Betony, Dandelion, Dock, Hyssop.

Herbs - Balm, Borage, Chervil, Sage, Succory.

Fruits and Vegetables - Asparagus, Bilberry, White Beets, Chestnut, Fig, Peas

Mars:

Trees and Shrubs - Broom, Furze Bush, Hawthorn, Honeysuckle, Pepper Tree

Wormwood.

Flowers - Anenome, Briony, Lesser Celandine, Gentian, Germander, Hedge

Hyssop, Madder, Tobacco.

Herbs - Aloes, Basil, Chilli, Chives, Catmint, Garlic, Mustard, Pepper, Sars

aparilla, Tarragon.

Fruits and Vegetables - Barberry, Onion, Radish, Rhubarb, Rocket.

Sun:

Trees and Shrubs - Ash, Bay Tree, Balsam, Juniper, Mistletoe, Olive Tree,

Storax Tree, Walnut Tree.

Flowers - , Butterbur, Eyebright, Greater Celandine, Heliotropes,
