Mindoro, Philippines, in the South-China Sea. The purpose of this trip is to

survey the life conditions of the island's indigenous tribes, generically called

hike over the mountain pass from the eastern to the western coast line. I was

villages along the way.

www.mangyan.org), located in Calapan City, the provincial capital of Mindoro

Oriental, will also be in Puerto Galera. She emailed me that she can introduce

me to the tribal organisations representing seven of the eight tribes on

Mindoro. The MHC is the only non-Mangyan institution that has the trust of the

Mangyan tribes via their seven elders representing them. So this is a very good

coincidence for my trip to meet her on the first day, and I am very glad about

this development. At the end of my trip, reaching San , I will also meet

people of the eighth tribe, called the Hanunoo Mangyans, where I have personal

friends among them. If I can make it up to the northern part again along the

west coast will depend on my remaining time and budget available, otherwise I'll

head back via boat or airplane fron San to Manila.

to the Internet, I will try to update this blog with text and media, as the days
