Guest guest
The Great InvocationSpiritual Significance  Embodies Divine Intent The Great Invocation is essentially a most abstract form of meditation, and its meaning is hinted at by D.K., the Tibetan, in his introducing it, with these words (given in 1945): It is my intention this year to have you concentrate upon the new Invocation from the point of view that it embodies the divine intent and summarises the conclusions of the thinking of the planetary Logos. It is the most abstract form of meditation with which you have yet been presented. The meaning of this Invocation has been expressed in terms which are understandable, in a measure, to the average person because of its familiar wording, based on many Scriptural terms. But the true inner implications and significances are of very deep import and are not superficially apparent. I challenge you to penetrate, through meditation, more deeply into the vital meaning of these words, these amazing words. They embody, as far as is possible in modern language, a formula which was in possession of the Hierarchy ever since it was founded on Earth, but which is only now available for use, owing to the point in evolution reached by humanity. The wonder of these mantric stanzas is that they are comprehensible to members of the human family and to members of the Kingdom of God. - Discipleship in the New Age Vol. II, Alice A. , p. 156  Synthetic Group Appeal The Invocation has many levels of meaning, depending on one's level of understanding. As a shared invoking over many years, it is yet another grade of meditative work than individual meditation or prayer, it is a true example of invocative group appeal. Each of the four verses of this prayer refers to one or other of the three aspects of divine energy — Light, Love and Will — in connection with humanity, where these three aspects meet. This Invocation is synthetic in its approach, unique in the sense that it invokes all three divine aspects. This is the first time in human history that this potent manner of synthesis was given by the spiritual Hierarchy for until the last century, humanity had not yet enough development. The human kingdom is the only kingdom of nature in which Light, Love and Will are expressed, imperfectly at first, but in the final expression these will be developed to their full potential and balance. All lines meet in humanity; in the words of the Tibetan, " The subhuman kingdoms find their consummation in humanity, and the superhuman kingdoms their opportunity, and through the human kingdom all superhuman lives have at some time passed. " (*)  Energy Follows Thought Energy follows thought. Indeed, energy descends in response to appeal and demand. The inner, invisible, meditative work of the contemplatives impulses and energises the work of those who carry out the more visible, objective, outer activities. We become part of the precipitation as well as participants in the process as we voice The Great Invocation in full awareness, with intent and purpose — thoughtfully, prayerfully, meditatively — knowing that the response will be almost simultaneous. Those who use this Invocation for Light, Love and Purpose experience powerful changes in attitudes, life and goals. One's own life will become more spiritually useful and meaningful. Other lives will become resonant and responsive. Light and Love are truly active energies. Their invocation touches all lives everywhere, thus bringing about change.  Continuity of Revelation In the manner this invocation has been used and continues so to be, the united belief is held that The Great Invocation's significance goes forth continuously, through those who seek to embody the principles and energies of the Plan and Purpose and to create the climate in which further emergence can take place.  Raincloud of Knowable Things This entire invocation refers, esoterically — that is, from the standpoint of energy — to what Pantanjali, in the Yoga Sutras, called the " raincloud of knowable things. " This raincloud is that impending, overshadowing and revelatory storehouse of energy which is the immediate cause of all events on Earth and which indicates the emergence of that which is new and better and progressively right. The Great Invocation is a potent instrument for piercing this raincloud of knowable things in order to release insight, revelation and energy. The now available energies in this raincloud are of a higher nature and on a larger scale than ever before. These knowable things are the sources of all revelation and human realisation and lead to what we call civilisation, the body of knowledge we call culture. A massed invocative appeal of the entire human family at any one period precipitates the revelation for the next step or for the next cycle. Aspirants and disciples will have a deeper understanding, aware as they are, of the world of cause and meaning, of Hierarchy and the inner government of the world. They will help to strengthen others with true visions and help them to recognise the reality behind the world of appearance, enabling humanity to move forward into greater light. Members of the Hierarchy use this mantram every day, according to the Tibetan. Their use will bring about a response of spiritual will in humanity and reveal the divine Will for the benefit of hierarchical workers.  Contact — Humanity's Direct Appeal Formerly, humanity's invocative appeal has been to the spiritual Hierarchy but since 1975, when a direct descent of Will energy — bypassing Hierarchy — impacted humanity directly from Shamballa, humanity has been making its own direct appeal. The Tibetan has said, in regard to our current world cycle, " There has never been a period in our planetary history in which opportunity has loomed so large or when so much spiritual light and force could be contacted and utilised by humanity. " (**) Effects so far of this concentrated, available energy include • Coordination of the new group of world servers on the physical plane. This loosely organised group of serving disciples, servers of the Light, is drawn from all segments of humanity. • The cleavage between the Forces of Darkness and the Forces of Light brought about World War II ... and as the direct cause of humanity's seething emotional and psychic turmoil, still persists, to some extent, to this day. • The release of atomic energy: The Tibetan indicated that when humanity produced a Light on Earth which it could not face, the entire body of humanity would take a major step forward, upward or inward — however we want to phrase it. The coordination of the new group of world servers, World War II and the release of atomic energy were the immediate result of pressure of the overshadowing resources of this raincloud of knowable things. The spiritual energies have, therefore, impersonally and with a " vivid directive of pure intent, " penetrated from the highest point of spiritual purpose to the lowest aspect of matter, the atom; they have thus proved the truth of the statement that matter is spirit at its lowest point and spirit is matter at its highest, and that the apparent duality is but an essential unity. - Discipleship in the New Age Vol. II, Alice A. , p. 163 The spiritual and the humanitarian people of the world have been blended into one group on the inner planes, it is said, even if this remains outwardly unrealised. This world prayer is a major key to unlocking the great opportunity of our present world cycle, for the Tibetan also said that The Great Invocation " ... if given widespread distribution, can be to the new world religion what the Lord's Prayer has been to Christianity and the 23rd Psalm has been to the spiritually minded Jew.
