Remembering that 99.99% of bulletins like this are hoaxes, and that

you'll look like a computer flunkie if you pass on a hoax, do you

really want to pass it on before you confirm that it's real,

especially to business associates?

I'll bet this is a hoax. Too familiar...

I DO NOT BELIEVE IN SENDING E-MAIL VIRUS WARNINGS OF ANY KIND TO ANYBODY

EVEN TO THIS LISTSERVE AND IT AGAINST THE RULES. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT

THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT. THEY ALL SAY THE SAME THING. I JUST DELETE ALL THE

E-MAIL VIRUS WARNINGS!

Hi Lainie,

I do not open email with a browser. Instead, I open in a text

window and thus get to look at the html code version of an email

if I want to. I am amazed by the number of emails with the html

version infected with kak.

Hi

Please turn off HTML before sending emails. Anyone receiving

an email from you while your computer was infected would also

be infected, unless the email were deleted before opening in a

browser, because you are operating witn html ON.

a,

Although viruses are nasty, highly destructive inventions, this one is

making me laugh. I heard about it from some friends in the computer biz. Not

only will you need a re-install, but everyone in your address book will know

you opened the " Naked Wife " attachment!

Jen, many of us are getting similar messages. An existing subject line is taken over by the virus, and the message "Be sure to read this attachment" is inserted. If there really is a Shea, he probably has nothing to do with the messages; the virus has taken over his e-mail identity, just like "Invasion of the Body Snatchers."

I sent a message to the Shea address last night, got no response.

If you don't have McAffee or Norton or similar, I strongly recommend you get it, do frequent live updates, and keep it enabled. This is a tough time, in terms of computer viruses.

Harper, I also sent him an email.... and when I did, it was returned with a

bomb of emails from him repeatedly with the same virus attachment, just

renamed. Perhaps because I'm making the most stink about it.

I have an anti virus, two actually. My system is clean as far as I know.

Excite doesn't allow me the offer to block this users email addy but are

working on offering it as a service soon. In the mean time I have to

continue receiving emails from him.

I hope it ends soon.

I also got this virus through the list. Did you have any major problems with this. I don't know much about computers what should I expect. Debbie in Louisville

Hi Debbie,

If you opened the attachment, then you are infected.

It is essential to buy, use, and update at least once a week, the best virus protection you can. I use PC-cillin but Norton's and McAffee also have their fans. To check your system to see if you are infected, go here http://www.antivirus.com/pc-cillin/ and run the free virus scan. If you are infected, go back to http://www.antivirus.com/pc-cillin/ and click on the troj_badtrans link under worldwide top viruses in the left column. You can also get a 30 trial of PC-cillin on that same page.

office PC, my PC was infected so yours maybe too. Our MIS chief has verified

that this is real and could destroy your hardrive. Please follow the

instructions below.

Sorry for the inconvienence.

This is a serious e-mail. I received an e-mail

from a friend two days ago, and this warning from her

this morning:of a virus that was passed on to her. Her

PC was infected and since I was in her address book it

had probably been spread to my computer. I followed

the instructions and located the virus. By following

the instructions, I was able to delete the virus. The

bad news is that you probably have it, as you are in

MY address book!

More bad news is that my anti-virus recently

updated virus program did not detect this virus.

This virus lies dormant for 14 days and then

kills your hard drive. Here is what to do. If you

follow the instructions and then see that you have the

virus, you need to send a similar e-mail to everyone

in your address book.

Remove the virus by following these steps:

1. Go to " Start. " Then to " Find " or " Search "

(depending on your computer.)

2. In the " Search for files or folders " type

sulfnbk.exe -- this is the name of the virus.

3. In the " Look in " section, make sure you are

searching Drive C.

4. Hit " Search " or " Find. "

5. If your search finds this file, it will be an

ugly blackish icon that will have the name

sulfnbk.exe.

DO NOT OPEN IT! If it does not show up on your

first " Search, " try a " New Search. "

6. Right click on the file -- go down to " Delete "

and left click.

7. You will be asked if you want to send the file

to the Recycling Bin--say " Yes. "

8. Go to your Desktop (where all your icons are)and right click on the Recycle

Bin and either manually

delete the sulfnbk.exe program or empty the entire

bin.

9. If you found the virus on your system, send

this or a similar e-mail to all in your address book

because this is how it is transferred.

Sorry for the trouble and my apologies for having

unwittingly " infected " you, if this virus was on your computer.

Nothing in this world changes your outlook on life like being loved.

What happens if I have already removed that file? What must I do to

reinstall it, if the recycling bin has been emptied? Thanks.

Paolo,

Find someone with a similar system as yours, have then " copy " the

file, and mail it to you then simply copy to the correct file. BUT

the file that was deleted was read only, self replicating, and it will

replace it's self in a few days.

This sill little game has been around a long while, WE will catch

these idiots!

Dave

Hi I found this file on my C drive - don't know whether it was a virus or not

but I deleted it - and I am afraid you are in my address book. Bw Rosie

Virus warning

I received a warning about this virus and yes it was in my system and so

may also be in yours as you are in my address book.

The name of this virus is jdbgmgr.exe and it is sent automatically by

the Messenger and by the address book.

The virus is not detected by McAfee or Norton and it stays quiet for 14

days before damaging the system.

The virus can be cleared before it deletes the files from your system.

In order to eliminate it, it is just necessary to do the following steps:

1. Go to Start, click " Search " (or " Find " )

2. In the " Files or Folders option " enter the name jdbgmgr.exe

3. Be sure that you are searching in the drive " C "

4. Click " find now "

5. If the virus is there (it has a little bear-like icon with the name of

jdbgmgr.exe) DO NOT OPEN IT FOR ANY REASON

6. Right click and delete it (it will go to the Recycle bin).

7.Go to the recycle bin and delete it or empty the recycle bin.

IF YOU FIND THE VIRUS IN YOUR SYSTEMS SEND THIS MESSAGE TO ALL CONTACTS

LOCATED IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK BEFORE IT CAN CAUSE ANY DAMAGE.

Interesting that there are posts about viruses. I was thinking about

posting a general warning that there are lots of viruses circulating.

I recieved one that SAID it was from my ISP (earthlink), SAID it was

bounced mail that I had sent and SAID the undeliverable mail was in

as attachment called DMSA.pif. Fairly clever, I think.

Please don't open attachments.

You can run a scan on your computer for free from here:

http://security2.norton.com/ssc/

I was told that one needs to run this from IE 4.01 or higher

(and not netscape or other browsers).

It will tell you what files on your computer have viruses.

They will also recommend buying their anti-virus software.

best wishes,

Moria

Thanks for the warning, but I believe this one is a hoax. I " think " this

program is a Java script debugger.... that the Windows operating system

requires....nothing malicious.
