Guest guest
Hello, my name is Stefanie. This is a project that I feel very strongly about, and I would love to have your support. All you would need to do is vote, and hopefully my dream assignment can happen! =) I’ve been a photographer for over 6 years. I’ve photographed professionally and personally as a hobby. I want to share my skills in unique ways to give back, and this is one way.Thank you, xoxoStefanie..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJcavg4buEsIn more detail:There are more than 11 million abandoned and orphaned children in India. Roughly 90% are unwanted girls who will be destined to live the lives of prostitutes, beggars, or forced into hard domestic labor. They have little to no chance of escaping a life of poverty, and in their poverty they will not be able to afford to care for their own children when they become adults.I’m a strong believer in the healing power of art. I value it greatly. My dream assignment is to visit the Mahavidya Girls School in South India as a guest teacher to help introduce the concept of photography and art. I believe that in introducing photography to these children it will inspire and expand their perception, and allow them to see the world differently. It will also teach them basic skills to grow on. In addition, the photography they create can be sold as a finished project as a tool for fundraising to further the Mahavidya schools’ resources.Working with digital equipment and computers will also introduce them to technology, which is invaluable knowledge in this day and age. Encouraging their artistic abilities will teach them how to become more confident, creative, and hopeful global thinkers. They will then in turn become more capable citizens for their country and leave a lasting positive impact on the people they come into contact with. The $50,000, if chosen to carry out my dream assignment, would be used in this fashion:~Equipment for students-Simple digital cameras.-Computer stations for previewing work.-Projector for class participation.-Additional classroom supplies that may be needed.~Equipment for my documentation of the students-A couple additional lenses for use of variety and back up.-A back up digital camera.-Any extra needed accessories (batteries, memory cards…etc.)~Preparation of finished artwork from the students for display and fundraising in the form of individual prints and/or a finished photography book compiling all the children’s work together. The goal is to publish and expand this idea further.~Needed travel and living expenses.~Any left over money I would donate to the Mahavidya Girls School of Little Goddesses.http://ifc-mahavidya.org/mahavidya_school.htmlI sincerely hope this project will shine more light on how serious the situation in India is for orphaned and abandoned children, especially for young girls. I also want to show how art can unite humanity and motivate the very best qualities out of even the most unlikely of us. Seeing the world through these children’s eyes is a service to us. It will make us better people. Please vote for this project.http://www.nameyourdreamassignment.com/the-ideas/diddiejar/seeing-the-world-through-their-eyes/ In Deep gratitude for all THAT isNamaste **RaK**.
