Another Cukierski Family Article We give you permission to reproduce our article EXACTLY as it appears. May God bless you! " He cured many who were suffering from diseases of one kind or another " (Mark 1:34). In the Gospel story of Jesus bringing the dead man, Lazarus, back to life, Jesus affirms His Divine Power, saying, " I am the Resurrection and the life. If anyone believes in Me, even though he dies he will live, and whoever lives and believes in Me, will never die " (Jn. 11:25-26). From the beginning of His public ministry, Jesus demonstrated that the Healing Power of God was in Him. In 's Gospel we read that " He went round the whole of Galilee teaching in their Synagogues, proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom and curing all kinds of diseases and sickness among the people " (Mt. 4:23). And, in Mark’s Gospel, Mark tells us that the Apostle 's mother-in-law was in bed, sick with a fever. And Jesus " went to her, took her by the hand and helped her up. And the fever left her. " Later, the people " brought to Him all who were sick and those who were possessed by devils. " And, " He cured many who were suffering from diseases of one kind or another. " Let us think about the first disciples of Jesus. After encountering Jesus, these very ordinary men and women discovered that they had an amazing power to heal, which they could share with others. From the very beginning of their ministries, they demonstrated that the Healing Power of God was in them. Luke tells us that " So many signs and wonders were worked among the people at the hands of the Apostles. People even came crowding in from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing with them their sick and those tormented by unclean spirits, and all of them were cured " (Acts 5:12,14,16). " I am the Resurrection and the Life, " says the Lord. Let us make room for the Living Christ who is here to give us the guidance we seek, and the power we need, to become instruments of healing in a broken world. No matter how “broken†we may be, Christ still needs us...Christ can still use us. When we are seeking to be healed, Jesus is our Model. Thus we read ... " As He sat at a table in His house, many tax collectors and sinners were sitting with Jesus and His disciples, for there were many who followed Him. And the Scribes and the Pharisees, when they saw that He was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to His disciples 'Why does He eat with tax collectors and sinners?' When Jesus heard this He said to them, 'It is not the healthy who need the doctor, but the sick. I did not come to call the virtuous, but sinners' " (Mk. 2:17). When we are seeking to help heal others, Jesus-once again, is our Model. We read ... " He summoned His twelve disciples, and gave them authority over unclean spirits with power to cast them out and to cure all kinds of diseases and sickness " (Mt. 10:1). The ministry of healing and caring is a ministry of hope. We presume to bring hope to our sisters and brothers in need, not because we are great, but because God is great. We presume to offer New Life to our sisters and brothers who are hurting, not because we think we have it made, but because we can say, " Come and see us in our own brokenness. Come and share with us an abiding hope in a Gracious God who loves us and will never abandon us. " If we offer ourselves to the world in a ministry of caring and healing, modeled on Christ Jesus, we will shine as a sign of hope, and we will be able to move people from darkness to light. And they will find those whom they thought to be enemies to be their brothers, and sisters. It is so important that we strive to help our fellow brothers and sisters. For it says in the " Parable of the Last Judgment, " it is written ... I tell you solemnly, in so far as you did this to one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did it to Me. For I was hungry and you gave Me food. I was thirsty and you gave Me drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed Me. I was naked and you clothed Me. I was sick and you visited Me. I was in prison and you came to Me (Mt. 25:35-36). Our oneness with Christ is demonstrated only insofar as we permit Him to work in us and through us with the Healing Power of His Love. This means ...• Helping as He helps • Giving as He gives • Serving as He serves • Rescuing as He rescues • Healing as He heals. Dr. Karl Menninger, the famous psychiatrist, was once asked following a lecture on mental health ... " What would you advise a person to do, if that person felt a nervous breakdown coming on? " Most people expected him to reply: " Consult a psychiatrist. " To their astonishment, he replied: " Leave your house, find someone in need and do something to help that person.†The Divine Healer can heal YOU, but first you must be willing to help others.
