Guest guest
It was Marcus Aurelius in his meditations who said, “Happiness is, literally, god within, or good.† Seemingly there are many things that make us happy.  Certain things can happen, people can say supportive and kind things, and we can acquire valuable possessions, all of which can bring us positive feelings; however, they are not the happiness Marcus Aurelius ponder in his meditations. Truly, happiness in its purest and most powerful expression is felt by us when there is nothing outside of us to support such feelings.  In fact, this happiness is so puzzling that it can come upon us when the outer circumstances of our lives don’t seem to support happiness.  Perhaps, it was this way for the emperor when he discovered that happiness was literally an awareness of God within.  This, dear friend of God, awaits us all and when we experience it, happiness is forever changed for us.
