Guest guest
Hi CSC, Glad to hear of your progress, and I too flushed this weekend and for the first time used the Magesium Citrate..... bought it at Walmart for $1.14 and it tasted great compared to the Epsom salt in water. I highly recommend it! Happy flushings, Dee

I certainly look forward to it instead of the ES. Gag! More questions: 1. What's up with the night sweats? Mark had mentioned it and my husband keeps getting them too. Infection? Too many toxins, etc. At first, we thought it was the coptis and curcuma. But he gets them even when he doesn't take these herbs in the evening. 2. I really appreciate the information on the probiotics. I've been doing them daily (off and on, i know i'm bad) for years (off and on again). How do you know if you are getting something that is working and is good? I agree with taking the best, but what is the best? 3. If you do yogurt, that's a dairy product, which is contrary to the LC diet. I don't do soy as I'm estrogen dependent at the moment (probably because of gallstones). Please keep the info coming. Would love to hear what you keep discovery. Thanks everyone!

Guest guest
hi addy, my dr and i had a similar chat today. i'm already on the max xolair (375 every 2 weeks) and still having some issues with the allergies (but not as bad as they had been). she reminded me that as soon as i felt i was heading south (even if my peak flow/useless numbers didn't show it) to start the flovent on top of the advair. i hope you feel better!! heather pyle456 <coachmac@...> wrote: Like many of you, I have been having significant trouble this spring. I went to the doctor today and asked for an additional steroid inhaler on top of Advair in order to try to ween myself off pred. I also asked to have my Xolair dosage increased to what it was when I started it - which was the max dose of 375mg every two weeks. 300mg isn't getting it. He agreed and put me on another antibiotic and so forth. Hopefully, I'll be feeling better in another few days. Take care all, Addy
Guest guest
, My doc didn't want me adding flovent to advair b/c both are fluticasone (or whatever). He wanted me to add a different variant of oral steroid so I have asthmanex to add to the advair. Hope you feel better too! I hope you feel better soon. I can't drive till monday, so I am unable to get to the doctor to get my Xolair today. I will now have to wait till tuesday. I sure hope I can hold out that long. The last thing I need is a bad asthma flare up right now. I go back to work next week since the doctor said I could drive again. Nothing hard like lifting things. My voice is about 60% back. Guest guest
I take flovent and symbicort (oxeze + pulmicort). We added the flovent since it is supposed to hit smaller airways better than pulmicort alone. I too am having trouble this spring (apparently allergies are nuts for everyone). A small animal crawled into my chest and died. Moving does not help either I think..... Anyone want to help me pack??
Guest guest
Thought I'd share my personal experience of maxxing out inhaled steroids in order to avoid oral steroids. I've been able to avoid oral steroids by following my pulmonologists recommendation of using Flovent 210 mcg, 2 puffs twice daily in addition to Advair 500/50 on a routine basis. Yes, the " 500 " component of the Advair is fluticasone and so is the Flovent, but studies have shown that increasing fluticasone up to a total maximum of 1800 mcg daily (2X500 from the Advair + 4X210 Flovent = 1840 mcg) gives significantly additional benefit over just using Advair 500/50. Anything over that amount only increases side effects without further benefit. When my asthma flares, typically when I get a respiratory infection, he has me add Pulmicort, which is a different steroid (budosenide), at 4 puffs of the 200 mcg twice daily. Once I'm back to baseline for several weeks, I slowly taper off the Pulmicort, tracking my peak flows religously to use as a guideline. These amounts of even just the fluticasone do produce some of the same side effects as oral steroids, but to a MUCH smaller extent than taking the amount of oral steroids it would take to control my asthma (been there, done that with many severe side effects).
