Guest guest
Basically it is using either salt tablets or salt dissolved in water along with equal amounts of Vitamin C. (Do not use processed salt or salt with any other ingredients in it). One dose is 1g (1/4 teaspoon salt, 1,000mg C). Its important it seems to ramp up slowly on it. When my wife first tried she went too fast too soon and ended up with a massive Herx the first week! Not a good idea it seems in retrospect! Many folks have reported great success on it. There is a large support group that primarily discuss this treatment at lymestrategies/ I have a large collection of testimonies etc on my free Lyme resource CD about this protocol. Email if you would like a free postpaid copy of this computer cd. Guest guest
Shirley, the Vitamin C/salt cure is an alternative way to treat lyme disease. Since I have a Candida overgrowth, I cannot take antibiotics, which would kill beneficial bioorganisms and allow the Candida to spread more widely. The Salt/C is a program in which a person takes a gram of salt with a gram of vitamin C for each ten pounds of body weight, four times daily until symptoms go away. From everything I've read, the antibiotics don't work anyhow, at least in the long run. They do appear to kill off lyme disease for a time, but most cases I've read about show it reappearing in time. Guest guest
I have success in controlling some of my candida issues with a soil based probiotic called Prescript Assist. It is a great product. I have had several EI dr's tell me to pour some of a capsule into my coffee enemas as another way to expedite it into the guts. Don't know anything about the salt/vit. c cure as have high blood pressure and can't do that much salt. Guest guest
I have incredible candida problems, going back decades. Yes, it's related: fighting Lyme distracts the immune system to the point where it can't take care of the usual business, like handling candida. Furthermore, the gut problems endemic to Lyme lead to " leaky gut " syndrome, which makes it very easy for gut bugs like yeasts to get into the bloodstream and spread. What it meant for my treatment is that i have to be *exceedingly* careful about managing gut flora, even more than most Lymies on long- term abx. Rampant systemic candida is one of the three or four worst things that can happen during treatment; in my case (and, apparently, yours) we're already well down that road to start with. It's not a good place to be. My LLMD started me off on a full month of daily Diflucan -- which is a snootful!-- to cut the yeast problem down to size before I took a single antibiotic pill. Just that much made me feel incredibly better. I've been on Nystatin daily throughout; and managing the yeast is also the major reason I take those month-long drug holidays. After four or five months of abx, my system is so overloaded with yeast I can't function, and I need the time off to clear it all out again. Be sure to discuss this in some depth with your LLMD, and ask how s/he plans to manage it. You will need daily doses of probiotic yogurt (not sweetened), plus a couple of good probiotic supplements (the best ones are found in the fridge at the health food store). These should be taken at least an hour away from your antibiotics, either before or (better) after. In addition, I can recommend a product called Threelac, which is a probiotic that's specifically aimed at keeping candida at bay. You probably already know that eliminating white food -- and especially refined sugars -- from your diet is also a really good idea, to the extent that you can manage it. I also avoid yeast breads and beer. Other people find it necessary to steer clear of wine and cheese, but I don't seem to have trouble with those. Guest guest
Sara, thank you for the info, I will definately make sure my LLmd addresses it, as I'm sure he will anyway. Guest guest
Bridget, Make sure the LLMD is very specific about dietary restrictions. I have eliminated all refined sugar, carbs such as pasta (that's tough--I love pasta) & bread, caffeine, and alcohol. I miss wine & beer--but they definitely feed yeast! Sorry you have to deal with Candida, but this too shall pass. Guest guest
Dara, not sure, it was a blood test though, and a homeopathic MD, she said most doctors don't believe in it. Guest guest
well that explains it. I have been thinking about seeing a naturopath along with the LLMD, so maybe I can find out more there. Guest guest
Alot of LLMDs are actually homeopathic doctors, is yours? Guest guest
By definition of LLMD they are not a homeopathic doctor. LLMD stands for lyme literate medical doctor. There are some very rare doctors who are both an MD and Homeopathic doctor though, such as Dr Blaylock but I don't think he is a LLMD. www.lyme-resource.com You can lead a person to a fact, but you can't make them think! - > [ ] Re: Candida > > Alot of LLMDs are actually homeopathic doctors, is yours? > Bridget > >
Guest guest
> > Hi Bee, > > I was so excited to find this. I've been suffering with Candida (at least that's what I think) for over 7 years. Recently, in the last couple of weeks, I've gone down hill and don't know what I'm doing wrong. I am getting severely depressed over it as I am so sick. I'm dizzy, exhausted, horrible headache, sore joints, etc. I have no life lately, and even since summer I have been sick for, at least, 4 of the 7 days per week. I am also getting stressed thinking about all that I need to do for Christmas. I am going to try your program wholeheartedly, and I pray I'll see some improvement. I pretty much do already, but hopefully if I don't get better here, you may have some insight??? +++Hi there. Wlcome to our group. Is your name ? I'm so glad you found us too, since you will discover that this program is the most successful because it provides your body with what it needs to healing itself naturally, the way Nature intended. It is mainly done with " proper nutrients " of course, along with eliminating toxins and foods that feed candida (they also feed bacteria and cancer) and eliminating toxins and damaging foods. You may have many ups and downs while on this program, when you will suffer with retracing past illnesses, injuries, etc. and experience die-off, detoxifying and healing reactions, but overall you will be progressing towards health! Guest guest
Diflucan is good stuff. Unlike most of the abx we take, it has virtually no side effects, and it's much better than nystatin at knocking out candida. And, as a side bonus, it's one of the better drugs going for busting up Lyme cysts, which may be why your doctor gave it to you. No natural treatment -- and precious few antibiotics -- can do this. And since getting rid of the cysts is one of the toughest parts of clearing Lyme, taking the Diflucan is pretty important.
