LDN patients in Northern Ireland

I am a family doctor in Dublin  and I have several patients from Northern Ireland who have MS.  LDN helps most but not all.  Some are coming for up to 5 years and most have been stable all that time. I  recommend a statin, fish oil and antioxidants for them too as MS seems to be largely an inflammatory disease of the myelin sheath of the brain. Several have reported an improvement, especially in tiredness.

Try to find info about progesterone in the form of

bio-identical,as progesterone is needed for the myelin.with people with chronic

disease ,and especially women, the progesterone becomes cortisol and there is

shortage.

I absolutely agree that bio-identical hormones are a blessing in keeping us

healthy.

Lack of hormones leads to lots of problems, from urinary incontinence in older

women when the lack of estrogen allows the tissues in that area to shrink and

dry out, to protection from stroke and coronary disease. It is such a disaster

that the only tests done in the US are done by pharmaceutical companies on horse

urine hormones and they have shown to be destructive, so people shy away from

the natural thing, thinking that it is the same. There is LOTS of evidence from

Europe about the protective abilities of bio-identical hormones.

For a good read in layman's terms, I would suggest Suzanne Somers' books, like

" The Sexy Years " and " Breakthrough " . Here is a synopsis of this one:

" Advocate of antiaging medicine Somers presents cutting-edge remedies and

preventative care that most doctors just aren't talking about with patients:

longevity medicine and the more progressive study of bioidentical hormones. As

we age, certain hormones diminish, creating an imbalance that can set off

everything from perimenopause to cancer, beginning as early as our thirties.

This hormonal imbalance causes many to feel depressed, anxious, fatigued,

sexless, sleepless, and ultimately ill, sometimes even terminally. Somers and

twenty doctors in the field of anti-aging medicine argue that the processed

chemicals in foods and pharmaceuticals we consume are actually slowly eroding

our bodies and minds. From estrogen dominance to deceptive thyroid problems,

people are suffering, and most don't have access to the treatment they truly

need to get better and thrive--until now. This book explores cutting-edge

science and delivers proactive advice on the newest treatments for breakthrough

health and longevity. "

Somers is a grandmother and breast cancer survivor, and the one that needs to be

read by those with cancer is " Knockout: Interviews with Doctors Who Are Curing

Cancer. "

Many of these are in paperback and you can get copies for as low as $.75 from

half.com for instance. As a person in my 60's, I would not want to do without my

BIO-IDENTICAL hormones. I think that they are one reason that the LDN not only

stopped my MS, but I was able to recover much of what I had lost, by having my

body be able to repair the damage with progesterone, etc.

Francie, my humble opinion
