I agree 100% with Francie. I have lived a full life even though I have had insomnia since 14 years old. It took me 6 months to get over LDN’s particular sort & I am still waiting for that magic of sleeping “deeper and more soundly”. However, I absolutely agree that this is too good an opportunity to get well. Do not to give up because of loss of sleep. I cannot take anything for the insomnia but it’s a good time to meditate & it is a great chance to be grateful for what I DO have – no pain, a warm bed, loving family etc. Take the LDN no matter what else you do.Trish I felt the same way when I first started -- that I slept so poorly and I was always so exhausted, that the idea of losing more sleep overwhelmed me. And it is true that that first night, I woke up at 3 am and had a hard time going back to sleep. But when I got up, I felt so much more energy, that I thought, " maybe I will just take a nap later. " For the first time in a long time, I did not take that nap, and that night I went to bed with an honest tiredness from being active much of the day, not a sick fatigue. After about three nights, I slept deeper and more soundly than I had in years.I know that it is hard to believe, when we are lied to every day by our doctors, but we blindly take the, sometimes deadly, medicine that they give us. So, please have faith. Most of us were sick for a long time. Here is a chance to be well again. Don't spend all of your time fearing a low sleep night that may or may not happen. One of the most common complaints of chronic illness is insomnia. The solution is to get well. Here, you have a chance to get well, rather than treat the symptom. Please, everybody, vow to give it an honest try, like for a week, before deciding that you cannot possibly survive a wakeful night in exchange for finally getting some help with what is causing the lack of sleep. The help that LDN has given me was worth a couple of nights that I feared I might not get enough sleep. Take some melatonin, take a hot bath with lavender scent, take a sleeping pill if that is what you have, but. Francie, my experienced opinion.http://LDN-for-MS.com--- In low dose naltrexone , " BayAreaMis " <lynnknee@...> wrote:>> I am interested in hearing experiences with taking LDN in the am vs pm. Hi,

I am new to the group and looking at LDN for my daughter who was injured by the Gardasil vaccine in 2007. She has significant anaphylactic, gut and neurological reactions to foods containing citric acid and sulfurs as well as airborne reactions to chemicals and some food odors. Is there anyone else in this group treating with LDN for Gardasil injuries?

My daughter has had insomnia since having the vaccine as well. Last Summer we did low pressure hyperbaric oxygen treatment (HBOT) to see if we could gain improvements in her health. One of her symptoms that improved was being able to sleep more. She went from having 0 - 2 hours a night to around 5 hours over the course of the night which is a huge improvement. It is not uncommon for sleep to improve with hyperbaric treatment, but I do not get the idea that it is commonly used just for insomnia.

Has anyone here looked into it or tried HBOT for insomnia? I started my research into HBOT after seeing a news piece on a Gardasil girl who had dramatic improvement in her condition after a Hyperbaric Medicine doctor in Santa Fe, NM (Dr Stoller) saw her story on the local news from Albuquerque and offered free treatment. I went to his site which has many links on hbot protocols and benefits and decided to find a good clinic near us. We actually plan on doing another round of 40 treatments this Summer, as we were pleased with the improvements we saw.

How prevalent of a side effect is insomnia with LDN use? Is it pretty much a guarantee? Do most patients see resolution in a short amount of time? What is understood about why it occurs?

Thanks for you time,

Jeannie

Insomnia with LDN is usually a short-term thing.

I had insomnia when I started with LDN. It hasn't gotten worse, and I think my

sleep is slightly more restful, but it's still not a good sleep.

My heart goes out to you and your daughter. I am a BIG fan of HBOT. I visited a couple in north Lousiana who bought their own chamber for their autistic son and found much good from it.

*********************************Not specifically that I know of, but it seems to me that much of what you are dealing with is immune system disruption. LDN is exactly what is needed to help correct this. Everybody reports fewer allergies and less allergic reaction over time with the use of LDN. Allergies are an immune system dysfunction. That is their definition (an allergy is an immune system over-reaction to a common substance). I think it is worth a try, and there is certainly no down side, and nothing to lose.

How prevalent of a side effect is insomnia with LDN use?**********************************Some get it and some don't. I don't see it as a big deal, as one has 24 hours a day to sleep. Take a nap for goodness sakes  :-)

**********************************

Is it pretty much a guarantee?

********************************** No. But if it does happen, it is short lived and minor. In a short time, as a person's health improves, so does their sleep, so most sleep better than before LDN use.

**********************************

Do most patients see resolution in a short amount of time?**********************************Yes, absolutely. But it is irrelevant. It is worth any potential short term inconvenience, in my opinion.

 **********************************

What is understood about why it occurs?**********************************It occurs because endorphins are the happy hormone that also gives you energy. The LDN blocks the receptor sites for a short time, and the body screams, " I don't have any endorphins! " and gets busy making new ones (in the short term) and more receptor sites (in the long term). With the flood of exciting and healing endorphins, you tend to wake up, or be closer to waking, which is why people report remembering their dreams more. To me, I would be VERY disappointed to not feel this exciting and positive result. It means that it is working. I would not want to hide it or avoid that.

**********************************

Thanks for you time,

JeannieI hope this helps,Francie
