Guest guest
Can someone please advise me on the dosage of ALA? I have some European-sourced 300 mg capsules that I got from Bevko. I would like to know how much and when to take. Do I take with food or on an empty stomach? Can I take with other supplements? http://www.bevkovitamins.com/products/details/87/1/antioxidant-protection/lipoic\ -acid-capsules I have Crohn's disease and autoimmune hepatitis. I started LDN at 1.5 mg on 1/25. Increased to 2.25 mg on 2/10. I am on a slow Prednisone taper for the AIH (at 1.5 mg currently), my last ever dose of Remicade for the Crohn's was on 1/16, and also take Enhansa, Biotin, and Vitamin D. Diet is the SCD since January 2010. Thanks a bunch - I love this group! Caroline UC-->Crohn's since 1999 AIH since 2008 (I believe this to be drug-induced from the Remicade)

" I've been taking an ALA/Acetyl-L-Carnitine supplement for over 3 years, first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, with no problems. However, and this is VERY IMPORTANT - if you have amalgam dental fillings DO NOT take ALA! ALA is a mercury chelator, if you have fillings it will pull the mercury out of them, which may be redeposited in fatty tissues in your body (worst case would be your brain) if your body can't collect and excrete the mobilized mercury fast enough (very likely). Guest guest
Uh oh....my husband is taking Dr. Sherry ' Detox Cocktail (R-lipoic acid, vit. C and l-glutathione). Isn't r-lipoic acid just another form of ALA? He has mercury fillings. [low dose naltrexone] Re: How much ALA should I take?
