Guest guest
Religious beliefs run strong in our DNA from our ancestors. I was raised Italian Catholic and there were many rituals we were taught to believe were essential to get into heaven. We bury people in graves and visit them. Why? Not because they are still there, but because it brings us comfort & connection to our loved one. Other cultures and other eras have different ways of honoring the dead. 15 years ago I was holding my mother’s hand when she died. While I was distraught at losing her, my experience at watching her leave the physical body and then feeling her pass through me with a special message for me changed forever how I think about death. She told me she was free and that it was wonderful. She visited me many times over the years and is now a guardian angel for my grandson who was born with a heart defect. I can feel her presence when I am visiting him and sometimes she will talk with me. But for the most part she’s quite busy with her new ‘afterlife.’ It really comes down to what you believe to be true and what brings you comfort. If you believe a ritual to be true and it brings you comfort in dealing with the loss & grief, then it is important for you for to do it. If not, then I’d say it is ok to let that ritual go and honor your mother in the way that fits for you. And that’s an important part to remember---rituals are for the people still living, not for the people who have crossed over. I hope this helps bring some clarity and comfort to you. The Cristian Orthodox Church, they say to give meals to others in the name of the deceased all the time: 1,3,6,9 days, 40 days, 3,6,9,12 months...and 2,3,4,5,6,7 years, and complete clothes at 40 days, 6 months, 12 months.....and 7 years anniversary, counted from the day when the person died. Now we know Human Being is made out of at least 2 components: Soul and Physical Body. Death mean the spirit is living the Physical Body. But I wonder what would a soul (my mother's soul) would do whit food/clothes/furniture; even if that soul would have all these, would it be able to use them ? I wonder why they are needed? I wonder............cause I believe it's just stupid rituals. For example, the great saints of humanity mostly lived in caves, isolated by the rest of the society, and be sure none did after-death rituals for them. So, why us, are doing and giving so many ??? " love inside you is the only thing you're taking whit you. " No furniture, clothes, food. Hope someone will help me to get this aspect clear for myself. Guest guest
Hello My dear Vasile, This belief is based on the idea of the indulgences, where one can gather " graces " by selfless acts and give as rewards to others. As a worker for the holy souls ( my background is Roman catholic, I was raised catholic). It is a common belief for the classic churches that all the souls that have transitioned to the other side are in the community of Saints (some call it Heaven, some Shamballa, others call them central Sun...), and they receive the benefits of our prayers and our good actions, if it is done in their name. This would cause them to have a more purified bodies and increase their possibility of farther ascension, or in other terms the possibility to be relieved from the wheel of karma. All those actions, like feeding the poor, clothing the naked and giving shelter to homeless, they are a part of the Prescription given by Christ in his Sermon of the Mountain, when he gave us the eighth blessings that accompanies the 14 acts of mercy. It is not that your Mother will need those things, she is perfect, and she has been perfect because she is a child of God. The Churches " prescribed it as a way to relief the suffering of souls that get " stuck " between world, where acts of generosity can melt any emotional and spiritual blockages, as of sensation of guilt and unforgiven situations that were not solved by the soul while they were here on earth. It is not something that is bad, specially because no act of kindness and love is ever wasted. If this 'giving energy " is not going towards your mother, it will go towards other souls that have no one to pray or give alms for them or in their names. I myself follow some prayers and rituals to give peace and relief for as many souls as they are out there. If you wish, I will send you some of the prayers (ritualistic ones) that would help you help them, all the blood line of your ancestors and other poor souls, but they are (the prayers) efficient only for the souls that are all still in a stage of duality, once they are out, there is no need of those works of intercession, since in Gos' house there are many mansions and many workers that would guide and love them as we did on earth. And love never dies... remember that. I hope that helps a little, this is my two cents. Love and respect to all, Liane > > Hello dear soul family. I am from Bucharest-Romania-European Union. Guest guest
From: Vasile <vasigsir@...> Sent: Wed, December 9, 2009 7:01:16 PMSubject: [] Can anyone answer this ? Hello dear soul family. I am from Bucharest-Romania- European Union. Guest guest
The food and clothing would be for people not evolved to the point where they can live in caves and be renunciates. It has to do with cause and effect. One does good and good returns to sender, do wrong, and it is similar. It can seem ritualistic because it seems routine, like a circle.Ganesa16 From: Vasile <vasigsir@...>Subject: [] Can anyone answer this ?
