You really will be ok when this is all over. The waiting is the worse part.

Think of the end result, and it makes it more bearable to go through.

Just remember your salt water rinses! Let us know how you are.

I'm so happy is doing good on Enbrel. It has been a miracle drug for

many people (just not me). I would rather be in pain than see a child suffer

like I do. I know you must be so happy to see your son to be able to do

things he hasn't been able to do for years. Hope everything turns out ok

with his hand. Tery

just to let you all know how jesse's Rheumy appt. went. Dr. say he is doing

great and looks wonderful but the nodules on his elbows concern him so he has

given him a new med for that and he has dry scalp so a med. lotion for that

and here is the big one, jesse has a clicking in his left wrist, dr wants an

MRI done. that will be on monday then sent to a hand surgeon. may need

pins in his wrist. He is nervous about it.

Esther, right now you are jesse's hero. I told him what you have been going

through and he says he is very lucky and hopes you are doing better.

i guess the wrist problem is not a major deal just something we have to deal

with. it could be alot worse.

take care all,

I hope 's MRI goes well tomorrow. Those nodules are really painful. I

only had them in my ankles, and never did one break! It sounds pretty

painful.

I hope his wrist is nothing serious. Is he ready to go back to school?

You can go to the egroups website and read any of the older messages.

I've forgotten my password too, so don't feel bad. Egroups has been bought

out by , so I expect there will be changes. They've already put the

advertising at the top of the message instead of the bottom. It is

annoying, but since this is free, I guess we can't complain.

Newbie :

Yes your dr. can base his diagnosis based upon your symptoms and the Lyme's

test should be repeated. If you are pretty asymptomatic though, I do not

understand how he can give you a diagnosis. If your Lymes test was

inconclusive, you could still have Lymes. That is another disease to

diagnose. I had two negative Lyme tests.

Generally, with RA, your pain is symmetrical meaning, if it is in your left

wrist it will be in your right, left knee then also right knee. You could

also be very early stages and your dr. is taking a very aggressive approach

by putting you on MTX right away. Many drs. are doing that now to suppress

the progression of RA. I am a believer in this approach myself. I believe

it has helped me. So many people have had RA for so long and the disease has

done some horrible and irreversible damage to their joints. A while back

though, there were not the same drugs as there are now. Consider yourself

fortunate. You can go into remission like me. My father has RA and has been

in remission since 1997 and off all meds. He is 83 and a walking miracle.

He had a very fast and aggressive intervention of MTX also. Sorry if I am

flappin too much. Just wanted to give you hope and encouragement.

No I never had to wait that long, . But then again, I've only been to

the ER once for my son's broken arm.

Hope is OK.

Hi ,

I work in the urgent care department of an emergency room. I know that many

people have to wait many hours when they come to the ER and we do not like it

any better than the patient does.

Unfortunately there are so many variables that can play into your wait time

and most of them cannot be helped. Where I work we try to do what we can to

speed the process up, even before being seen by the doctor. I can go ahead and

have xrays done and urine specimens sent to the lab and even get things ready

for stitching, if I know a patient is going to need it.

The doctor where I work is responsible for any emergency that happens in the

entire hospital. If a code is called, he has to respond to it before taking care

of his own patients. Sometimes he has to wait on results of xrays, etc (for

example if the radiologist is in the hospital, he reads the xrays before they

even come bck to us: another delay). Sometimes we may be bombarded with patients

that require alot of his time, for example those needing stitches. And sometimes

he may be having a bad day which slows him down. And some doctors are just plain

slower than others.

None of these make the wait any easier, but hopefully it sheds a little light

on why you may get stuck waiting.

I dread the days that we are backed up and behind. But I would say we have an

equal number of days in which the patient is triaged, registered, seen, treated

and dismissed in under an hour.

I am sorry for rambling, but I can see the situation from both sides.

Hope everyone is feeling well.

i understand the waiting for people that are hurt bad. like yesterday there

was 2 girls that had broken arms and a couple of people that had really high

temps(meaning over 103.) i have no problem waiting for things like that. but

when an ambluance comes in with an elderly person who called cause they are

lonely and the people that are really hurt or sick have to wait cause the er

takes care of the ambulances first.

last month i had to take jared to the er for an ear infection. we waited over

2 hours to be seen for a 10 min. dxs. there was a line of people and why we

were waiting a woman came in with a baby about 8 or 9 months old. he was so

sick. you could look at him and see he was running a VERY HIGH TEMP. the

mother and grand mother said to the triage nurse he has been sick for over 3

weeks and we have been to the dr 4 times and all he does is change his

antibotic. they made that baby wait for almost and hour and a half. when we

left they were still in the waiting room.

i understand that drs in the er have lots of people at once and have paper

work. but most of the time they sit there gabbing. yesterday the female dr.

sat at the desk and chatted with one of the nurses about her sons football

game the whole time i was in the exam room with robert. the other dr. (the

one that treated robert) was on the move the whole time. i couldn't believe

it. and the er was jammed packed with pts. i was amazed. our dr you could

tell he was annoyed with her but was tactful enough not to say anything in

front of everyone.
