Have you guys heard of the relationship with the adrenals and thyroid? I

have been taking adrenal glandulars along with thyroid. There is a book out

called Thyroid Power (I think its the one) where the Doc tells about the

relationship and how if your adrenals aren't right you can't correct the

thyroid without helping the adrenals too. There is also a website with a

Living Well plan which tells about it. (You pay for access but it has been

worth it). I was doing pretty good till my Doctor raised my Thyroid (Armour

type) 60 mgs. when I think he should have raised me slower cause I was

closing in on normal. Now I'm having a thyroid storm. BP and heart rate

have been up and literal shaking, etc. (Anxiety too - when I am nervous I

shake like a chihuahua : ) I am seeing an internist tomorrow cause my

results never had made sense. First they thought I had graves. Then

Hashimotos. My thyroid did go hypo - but I also have a tiny hot nodule.

Weird. By the way - I was on this list a while back and am just resigning

on again. I'm Jeanie. I lost 10 lbs by the way! That part has been nice.

Lots of energy. A bit too much now though. More like jello right now : )

This is the thing that bothered me with Armour. I hate to say it 'cause it

does a lot of good for a lot of people. But it just isn't for everyone. I

was glad my doc took me off it and put me on the timed-release T3.

hi jen iam kelly i am 25 and was diagnoised shorltly after my 2 year

son was born i am still hyper and on 3 different med methimazole 10mg

and a heart med and paxil do you seem to have alot of anxiety. i have

heard that having children aggravate symptoms my dr told me i

probably had it most of my life and i just got out of control when i

was pregnant. let me now how the meds are working.

Hey ,

Yeah, I read that being pregnant can kick your thyroid out of

whack. I too believe I've had a problem all my life and having my

son just aggrivated it. The test I had done in 96 just may not have

tested everything or maybe my thyroid evened itself out, if that is

possible. I've also had a heart problem. I was told a long time ago

that I had a murmur, which I think is true b/c from time to time I

feel a flutter in my chest. Thats the best way I can describe it.

Anyway, but I do have high blood pressure and a " tacky " (sp?) heart

rate. But, I hope I don't have to go on heart meds for it. I do seem

to have a lot of anxiety. If I'm on the phone talking, even to my

sis or my best friend, I notice I feel nervous and my voice shakes,

like I'm talking in front of a large group or something. Same for if

I have to go somewhere and ask for something. Like, I had to change

daycares for my son b/c the one he was at didn't have a 2nd shift.

Now, I need him back on 1st shift, so I had to go back to the

original place (for 1 they are cheaper and for 2 he did really

really well there and loved it). Before I was on meds, I'd be all

nervous about and and by time I would get to my car to leave I'd be

shaking. Well, now that I'm on meds, I was fine. Totally fine. It

was actually nice for once to not get so nervous about something so

ordinary. So, thus far something about the medicine is working. I'll

let you know how things go and how my CBC test turns out. :)

Hello

The trouble with doctors is that they seem to look at your test result figures

and base everything on that whilst ignoring you and your symptoms. Many people

can be hyperthyroid (and/or hypothyroid) whilst having their test result figures

within the so-called 'normal ranges'. To make life easier for ourselves we need

to find out what our optimum levels are and then we know for ourselves what

levels are not good for us.

Hello all,

Just joined the group today and wanted to introduce myself. My

name is , I'm 26, and I was just diagnosed with

hyperthyroidism. I'm on medication for it (Methimazole 5mg). My eyes

have bulged all my life making me have that startled look. I've had a

pretty good amount of the symptoms as well. Back in 96 my dr. tested

my thyroid and said nothing was wrong. But, ever since I had my son

this past March, and the whole time when I was pregnant, my symptoms

worsened. So, my dr. tested me last week and found the problem. So,

hopefully the medicine will kick in and help me out. :)

Janna,

I can't write much, but I just wanted to mention that eating little is bad

b/c you don't want your body to be in starvation mode. There are people on

this board that know more about that :)

Welcome Janna,

I'm afraid I can't offer much real help at this point, myself, but

want to just say hi. I'm just figuring out the thyroid problem I was

just diagnosed with, myself, but don't feel bad about venting here.

We understand.

I have two preschoolers, too, and have just gotten the dr to admit

the TSH was too high - it got out of the 'normal' range this last

test. I've been soo tired for soooo long, and couldn't get anyone to

listen to me either. I don't have your stress levels, either! wow.

I think you'll find plenty of information - take care.

I use the Dr. Atkins diet, but there are others such as The Zone,

Carbohydrate Addicts, Schwarzbein Principle and the Suzanne Somers Diet.

Do an internet search on low-carbohydrate diets and you should be able

to find info on all the diets and figure out which one you'll be able to

follow the easiest. The last four that I listed allow quite a bit more

carbohydrates than Dr. Atkins and I didn't lose weight very fast when I

tried them. On Atkins I'm losing at least a pound a day.

Does carbohydrates not also consist of milk and cheese -- I heard that cutting

out them too can very well lead to osteoarthritis or osteoporosis?

Dear Shirl,

OhmyGod, you've been through a lot!

When I had Graves, I found I was able to adjust my own dose of Tap by

listening to my body--I didn't rely on labs to tell me how I was feeling. I

don't think my system would work for everyone, but it did allow me to see the

idiot doctor less. I always find the less doctors I see, the better I feel .

.. .

Of course, the supplements and alternative methods can be expensive too, I

know. Probably using nutritition to balance our body is the most economical

way to health . . . Lots of info on iThyroid.

I hope you feel better soon. You sound like a strong person who is going

through a really rough patch. I've had a few rough patches myself, as

probably most of us have, so please feel free to share and vent here--we'll

all understand.

Best,

Dear Shirl:

You may want to check with local churches or other organizations and find out

if they have doctors giving out free services.

I know things can be very bad but please try to have faith in God and keep on

working to turn things around. You may want to consider finishing your

graduate school with a Federal Grant (The school would have the

information).

Take good care,

I get so mad w/physicians sometimes.....they can be so insensitive. After I

finish medical school, I promise to never treat any patient of mine with

that disrespect.

Anyway, there are a few tests that can be done for Candida overgrowth. One

is to test for antibodies against the Candida in the blood. I also believe

there is a stool test, but I am not as familiar with that test. Finding a

MD w/such knowledge of Candida is tough. Try looking for a DO or an ND in

your aread. At least a DO cand prescribe Difulcan or Nyastin if need be.

By the way, everyone I know who has taken the spit test had the same

results.

I personally believe I developed Candida overgrowth in college.....it was

very hard for me to eat healthy during that time b/c of the alcohol and junk

food that surrounded me. I would suggest Threelac for your daughter since

it seems to be somewhat tolerated bt poor diet. However, your daughter will

never truly heal unless she also drastically changes her diet as well. This

means no beer/refined carbs/dairy/vinegar/and SUGAR. It is hard to be

creative in college. Maybe the two of you can research easy and cheap meals

for her while she in away.

I am posting some websites for you below. If you are interested in

threelac, a woman by the name of Mona seems to be selling it for the

cheapest price. Her email is Knew2stock@...

http://www.cwchealth.com/

http://www.rainbowminerals.net/candida.htm

http://www.wholeapproach.com/

http://www.modernherbalist.com/products/intermediary-candida.html

This is a very tough organism to fight, but please stay strong. Tell your

daughter that the work she puts into her health right now will save her a

lifetime of misery.

Hello Wannie it sounds like your daughter does have Candida. Has she used

antibiotics for an extended amount of time, or is using oral contraceptives? If

she has then she could very well have Candida. I used antibiotics for acne and

I developed a yeast infection that would not go away then my symptoms became

serverly worse depression, fatigue, blurred vision, urinary tract infections and

coated white tongue (that is a major symptom)

i went to the doctor and got tested for everything diabetes and more. I would

take your daughter to the doctor just to eliminate diabetes or thyroid problems

or any other problem. If that comes out okay then I would ask for her to be

tested for Candida. Doctors are extremely skeptical of Candida. I was told

because they are not well informed of Candida. Find a doctor that will listen

to her. If your daughter is anything like me she is probabley extremly

frustrated. I had to go another route from doctors i had to take my health in

my own hands. Doctors couldn't find anything wrong with me so they said " it was

all in my head " . I am using Threelac this product is a candida defense

supplement that is suppose to wipe out candida. When you have candida you are

suppose to go on a strict diet no yeast products breads, starches , no processed

foods and no sugar. Yeast love sugar !! Using Threelac you don't have to be on

such strict diet, you should still avoid foods with lots of

sugar and don't overdo it on dairy products. The product Diflucan did not work

for me i think Diflucan is for people who have a normal yeast infection that

goes away in seven days. I hope you and our daughter find the answers you are

looking for. I hope my story was helpful to you- Jill

I have to thank everyone that replied to me. I also just received a phone

call from 's (daughter) DO and he informed me that has

Epstein-Barr. For the last few hours I have been doing research since I did not

know a

lot about it. I found one site that said that candida and hypothyroid are

related problems. She is a bit hypo and is taking Armour. I am so sure that

she

has a yeast problem and I have oreder Threelac to startr on this. I am a long

time low carbber and can get her into the appropriate diet (very similar minus

the dairy) She has taken birth control pills for about four years due to heavy

periods. She is sleeping right now and I woke her to tell her what she has

and she said that she is just glad that she has something that the doctors can

see. Now people will not think that she is crazy, lazy, a whiner, and a

hypocondriac. Any info about this virus that anyone has will be greatly

appreciated. It also seems like it is almost identical to CFS.....also mono.

you get this by kissing just like mono.

I'm am so glad that your daughter found out what is wrong with her. I think the

you will find the Threelac to be benefical to her health. Unfortunatly I don't

know much about Epstein Barr all i know is it is like mono. I think she should

consult with her doctor about taking a break from birth control. After all I

think the birth control is the culprit of her problem.

Hi Wannie

I suffer with M.E. (as it's called in UK) or CFS to you.

You might find these forums helpful www.chronicfatiguesyndrome.about.com &

www.thyroid.about.com

She needs to get off the pill as that causes candida and lots of other problems.

She could try natural progesterone cream, it helps with heavy periods and a

whole host of probs including thyroid and candida.

See the site www.progesterone.co.uk

I would definitely buy the book, what your doctor may not tell you about

premenopause by Dr Lee.

Also I was told I had IBS years ago but when I cut out gluten that improved.

Hope this helps

I haven't experienced much weight loss yet--I've been treating candida

w/ThreeLac and have been pleased that it has reduced my cravings for

sweets/carbs a great deal, so I figure I will surely lose. I have heard others

losing weight w/ThreeLac in this group. I would be excited to also hear of

anyone that has lost while treating candida, particularly those taking ThreeLac.

Newbie

IHello there...

I'm new to the group, and just learning about candida; I originally

found out about it through a message board on an Atkin's Diet

support website - I was on Atkin's for 5 months in the beginning of

the year to lose 50 lbs... I did everything right, lost 10 lbs and

then gained it back while still on the diet, and someone there

suggested that I may have candida, and that it was a frequent cause

for people to not lose on Atkins.

Anyway, I was blood tested, and my number was 128 (with 40-something

to 90 being normal), and was just prescribed a months worth of

Diflucan, which I am starting tomorrow, along with acidophilus

capsules, and starting the Atkin's diet again.

Anyone here have any experience to share as far as treating candida

and weight loss?

I also have a lot of symptoms of PCOS, although nothing definitive,

and reproductively I'm fine, although I seem to have screwy hormone

levels, because I have terrible skin, so bad that I wont wear a

sleeveless shirt anymore. I'm hoping the treatment helps straighten

that out as well.

So, anyway, hello again, and looking forward to learning what I can

do to start looking and feeling better.

-Lynn.

I know where you are coming from, I'm just about 2 weeks into Three lac . I

also have tried Atkins with no results. It does take the cravings away but no

weight loss.

I am hoping after a few weeks we can all see a difference. Feel good some

days and not so good others. Just glad there is a place to chat with others who

experience the same things.

Have never found a DR who would even consider that there is such a thing as

candidia.

Thanks for listening and good luck to all.

Please keep comments and progress going with Three Lac

It sounds like your daughter does have candida, I lost weight very quickly

after I changed my diet and got the candida under control. The MD's usually

aren't very supportive because they don't beleive it can happen un less you are

HIV or diabetic. Is your daughter's tongue white, has she had multiple yeast

infections? She needs to start diet and go and see if a MD will prescribe

Diflucan for a few weeks and see if it gets better, then you knoe it's the

candida.

Buy " The Yeast Connection " or " The Yeast Connection for Women " and bring it

with you to his office and fight for the Diflucan, that's all you can do there.

Otherwise there are sites on web for candida products www.modernherbalist.com.

you don't have to sufer from infertility ( although I did, because I had
