Guest guest
Hi Patty, I've used Vicks vapor rub all my life . . . Never thought about it having petroleum jelly in it though! .. . .Besides rubbing it on our chest and neck, Mom used to melt some in a pan of hot water and have us inhale it deeply, sometimes making a tent to hold the vapors in. . . That probably gets the benefits of menthol without the petroleum on the skin. I used it on my kids and found it one of the fastest ways to get their heads clear so they could breath. Now I seldom use it, but I was getting desperate this time! I was trying almost everything! My Vicks is so old, it doesn't have much smell left! Getting sick was interesting . . . I hadn't had a cold in years . . . But then, I got really, really mad - within days, my rings were making black rings around my fingers, and I was sick. . . Skipping my sleep meds probably didn't help the situation either! My hubby didn't even get a sniffle! Hugs, Rogene
Guest guest
Sometimes it is really hard to tell if you don't have an xray. 's cough was continual and terrible. She went for weeks like that and kept working, etc. Eventually her chest hurt even when she wasn't coughing and she could feel stuff moving as she breathed. We got an xray the day after christmas but it showed nothing. The e.r. doc told us to quit giving her the antibiotic the other dr. prescribed and that all she needed was cough medicine. Well, 2 days later, no better, feeling worse--no energy at all, no appetite, I went back to her regular doc. he could hear it. A repeat xray showed it in both lungs and a little piece of her lung collapsed in on itself. He put her back on antibiotics, but she continued to worsen. Each time I took her back it sounded a little more of her lungs were involved. By this time her chest and back hurt constantly and you could actually her her lungs squeak when she breathed and you could feel the junk move if you had your hand on her bare back. He put her on inhaler treatments. No improvement. I was getting really scared. I then got an answer to my prayer and I went to the health food store and got two things I felt God led me to buy. One was Sambucol black elderberry extract and the other was Coenzyme Q10. Don't ask me why, I just felt that was what God wanted me to do. I came home at 9pm and she was already in bed and still feeling terrible. I gave her both things. The next morning, she was much better! The dr. was ready to put her in the hospital. I had such a sense of peace about it that night that I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that God guided me and healed her. She seems to have a similar virus now and I have her on rm-10, colostrum and oil of oregano. I think she will come out of it this time without it becoming pneumonia. Thank you for the offer of prayers. She can always use them. I will certainly keep you in my prayers! love, kathy > > Hey guys, well it has been four weeks I have had this terrible > cold, and its hard to treat when pregnant, as there's not much you > can take, and often can get out of hand, because resistance is low. > Well, it has and after hours and nights of coughing, and coughing, I > went to see my doc today, and it has turned into bronchitis so say a > prayer for me. Guest guest
-I just wanted to say that my pediatrician was firmly against using vicks if you had a bad chest cold. He actually belived that it opened the passages deeper and let the infection settle deeper down. When my son had pneumonia he told me that. Just thought I would mention that in case it has some merit and you would decide to use the vicks. Guest guest
Dear Tawny, I am so very sorry to hear of the rough time you are having right now. Did you call your Dr to see if they have any cancellations to move the appointment up??? {{{{{{{{{Big Soft Gentle Hugs}}}}}}}}}}} go out to you Tawny. Take care of yourself and baby yourself as much as you possibly can. Now is the time to call in all " favors " . You know the ones. When you babysit for neighbors down the street, ask them to help you out in some way. By all means get as much sleep as possible. Remember just how much we love you here and if I was close enough (I am in Michigan btw) I would come over and we could have tea and wear big floppy hats and laugh!!! There is nothing like laughter! Please feel better. All my love, Nan Tawny <tawnyokc@...> wrote: Please, everyone keep me in prayer. I have been going through such a rough time, I only have a few weeks for my rheumy appointment. Guest guest
June, It does help to talk to other's when you are depressed. I have many email friends, and that helps a lot. I don't really communicate on the phone very much, I have a terrible time with my hands. By talking on the phone puts my pain even higher. So, I just stick to emails mostly, or IM when I feel like it, but don't even do that anymore. You are such a wonderful caring lady, who helps so many on this group, including me. Just your words help me so much, Tawny > Tawny, you need to talk to someone. Do you have a close friend you can confide in? Depression can be a terrible thing and one of the best releases from it, is talking everything out. You may not feel free to do it here in the group but I am sure many of us here would listen if you wished to write privately. If you send me your phone number, I will be happy to call you and chat if you think it would help. > > Hugs > June > ---------- > > No virus found in this outgoing message. > Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. > Version: 7.0.296 / Virus Database: 265.6.0 - Release Date: 12/17/2004 > > >
