Yet for some bizarre reason they can't get medical care, let alone cash assistance, to get back on their feet. Though the rest of the country knows Lyme disease is a serious illness, it's not recognized by the state of New Hampshire as a " valid " illness. The only way they get medical services is when they become so ill they end up in the emergency room. People in this situation can't pay the bill. The high costs of emergency care are much greater than the cost of regular medical services. With their health stabilized, they may be able to go back to work. And with Medicaid, someone who has been treated like a gerbil stuck on a wheel may feel like a human being again. On the Monitor website, an ad stated that 47 million people are uninsured. Make that 47,000,001. People who have some cash drive days to find a LLMD who doesn't take any insurance no less Medicare because of disability; those, when they run out of cash wonder what they are going to do next; and those who don't have the $$ just don't get any care that helps. YES, IT IS TRULY UNFAIR! and I don't get why they have to argue on what we all have - why not try to figure it out - our country is being crippled by this illness.
