Guest guest
Here are five things to avoid if you are losing your hair : Alcohol Caffeine Sugar Nicotine A Diet high in Fat Losing hair can be due to very subtle and complex things like Hormonal balance, high levels of DHT in your system, thyroid trouble, etc., but a good place to start is removing toxins in your diet like in the above list. I would put sugar near the top of the list. Sugar includes anything sweet, like soda pop, desserts, candy, even overly sweet fruits like watermelon, fruit juice with added fructose or corn syrup, etc. Anything that tastes sweet. White flour products are not all that good for you either, like white bread. Alcohol is just another form of sugar. Sugar addiction can cause gastro-intestinal problems. Guest guest
Does your strict anti-candida diet include inulin and inulin-containing vegetables? Undenatured whey and selenium? If not, you should know that a lot more can be accomplished and faster with them than without them, and since hair loss results from toxin load and reactive oxygen species, which can be reduced with these supplements, you should add them to your regime and keep using selenium-based shampoo as well. Further, a lot of anti-candida diets allow whole grain rice and such. Bad news Some drugs yield hair loss as a main side effect; statin drugs to reduce cholesterol for example. Guest guest
Duncan - I limit dairy in my diet due to the estrogen content (fibroids are very estrogen sensitive and I had them taken out. Don't want them growing back). I would like to start taking whey protein isolate but am not sure if it contains estrogen. Could you shine your light? Thanks. Guest guest
I'm going to make a wild guess that you either work out a lot or tend to avoid sugar naturally so had sorbitol in your diet? Maybe not but that is what happened to me when I developed the intestinal part of this problem. I'm 34. I was working out a great deal and I thought it would be healthy to avoid sugar so I used sugar-free products that contained sorbitol. I've had your same symptoms and I went from very healthy to very, very ill and I lost 2/3 of my hair. But I'm getting better and I think I figured this out - at least partially. I'm not exactly sure how but here is what happens - your intestine has a thin lining of L-Glutamine, that gets eroded possibly even 'digested' by yeast. You start to react to a couple of foods then more and more and more until eating is problematic because that lining is going away. With the lining goes your ability to absorb what you need to get by. The scary part is the white matter of your intestine is the same white matter in your brain. I started having a lot of trouble with memory myself and brain fog. So here is what is getting me well: First - no sorbitol - crap should be illegal. They have a warning on the side of products that contain it that it may cause some digestive side effects..well that's what you're experiencing - a bit more then expected hu? Second - if you want digestive relief for your intestinal tract - you won't believe this. I didn't when I tried it but it actually works. supplements: L-Glutamine, Acetyl Glucosamine, calcium, vitamin D. I take these before I eat. Aloe is good to add to that too. I'm working at trying to figure out when best to take them and amount. What I do know is if I don't take them before I eat I go back to being sick again, although I'm SLOWLY getting healed. Third - I take two very good multivitamins, half a dose of each per day (don't want to over do it on vitamins or any supplements, I hate pills...) I take Vitalert in the morning - which was a lot of good minerals including an important one - Selenium. It also helps my energy. Fourth - I take Futurebiotics Hair, Skin, Nails vitamin twice a day. Let me tell you this really works. My hair has started growing back in and I even have long full eyelashes. Finally while my hair was getting scarily thinner and thinner - I went on Amazon.com and bought hair extensions. They're real human hair and have a small clip. They are VERY easy to clip in, look and feel real and there is no shame in using them. My final word --- If it doesn't work don't do it. If you're on a " special " candida diet for three days and see no results it's probably rubbish. I went on all kinds of diets and no results at all, but as soon as I took dose one of the L-Glutamine I felt better and have been getting better since. If you have yeast in your um' private areas here is a good soothing remedy. 1 ounce Aloe Vera Juice 1 drop peppermint oil 3 ounces of very cold water Put into squirt bottle - use in the shower to clean inside and out with. It soothes, eliminates the itch and kills yeast. I use refrigerated Miconazol a couple of times a week and the rinse daily. Difulcan has never worked for me. If you try the L-Glutamine treatment and it works or doesn't work for you or anyone here - I would be interested in hearing about your experience. Just wondering how much Biotin you were taking? I had much the same problems as yourself & still have digestive/malabsorption issues (taking zillions of supplements to keep my immune stystem 'up') but the one thing I have solved is the extreme hair loss! Try upping your dose consistently to say, 1200 - 1500 mcg 3 times a day with food & see what happens in a few weeks. Maybe restart now with a lower dose & build up to dose I suggest within one week. Good luck, I also earn my living in the public eye so know how important 'hair' is! >

Guest guest
Wait... I have been taking 5mg once a day which is more than the 1500mcg three times a day you recommended. Guest guest
The enzymes Serrapeptase and Nattokinase are effective at controlling fibroids (see: http://www.biomediclabs.com/fibroids) along with many other conditions (see http://www.serrapeptase.info/). Guest guest
No, I've never looked that whey up. The product listing is here: <http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/yhst-16240716333798_2059_168594> As you can see, the components and method I've detailed here at the bottom of my whey page are present in the product, so it's a glutathione promoter, similar to the two wheys I have listed: http://tinyurl.com/whey-page The listing does not however indicate beta-lactoglobulin content. This protein is the most abundant glutathione precursor, so we can't tell from the label how good the product is as a glutathione precursor. Seems OK though. Compare to this data from the Now whey isolate I have on my page: " Now Foods Whey Isolate supplies glutathione precursors without added sweeteners, flavor or color, in a readily-assimilated form. Ingredients:Serum Albumin: 1.3 - 1.8%; Alpha-lactalbumin: 6-11%; Beta-lactoglobulin: 70-75%; GMP (Glyco-Macro peptides): 12-17%; Lactoferrin: 0.6%; immunoglobulin (IgG): 1.5-2.5% " all good, Duncan > > > > > > Duncan - I limit dairy in my diet due to the estrogen content (fibroids > > are very estrogen sensitive and I had them taken out. Guest guest
I was having hair loss for two years and recently started taking taurine--maybe a month or so ago. The hair loss has nearly stopped and my hair is growing back. Thanks to your comment I Googled taurine + hair loss and it is good for it, I think that's why my hair loss is better. I take it twice a day, plus Travacor at night and Excitaplus in the morning... I as put on all three of these to balance my neurotransmitters. You should see if maybe you have excess, or not enough, copper. Too much or too little is another cause of hair loss. It rises to fight infections so you may be too high in it. Then you have to take zinc... you should get them both tested and mercury too as mercury can stop you from getting rid of candida. Guest guest
*Supplements Amount:* (I'm not sure if this was directed at me -- but I think I forgot to list a BIGGIE MUST have supplement I take - vitamin-D which for whatever reason helps everything else work/absorb better.) I have spent loads of money experimenting over two years and these are the winning supplements. Some others worked and worked well but had side effects, many I couldn't tell they did anything at all. *Morning: (before eating) * 2 Vitalert Multivitamin (The good part of these is the daily dose is 4 tablets - vitamins tend to make me um' constipated so I take only two of these per day in the morning with whole wheat pancakes). These vitamins really do enhance energy but not in a bad jittery or bad feeling way. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=search-alias%3Daps & field-keywords=vital\ ert & x=0 & y=0 1 MSM (not sure about this one - trying it out) 500mg 1 L-Glutamine 500MG (this is the brand I take: http://www.amazon.com/Source-Naturals-L-Glutamine-500mg-capsules/dp/B001G7R3UG/r\ ef=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8 & qid=1249436367 & sr=8-4 ) 1 ounce aloe vera juice in acid free orange juice. (Citric Acid and me have never gotten along). Also they have Aloe Vera Gel capsules you can take. Stay away from the 'whole plant' sort of aloe pills. http://www.amazon.com/s-100%25-aloe-vera-juice/dp/B0019UZ1IG/ref=sr_1_3?ie\ =UTF8 & qid=1249436604 & sr=8-3 1 N-Acetyl Glucosamine This one is kinda hard to find but get this kind, not regular Glucosamine http://www.amazon.com/Jarrow-Formulas-N-G-Acetyl-Glucosamine/dp/B0001VKLNO/ref=s\ r_1_1?ie=UTF8 & qid=1249436493 & sr=8-1 1 humble vitamin-D pill from a generic variety I picked up at Wal-Mart, widely available 1/2 of a calcium pill again generic variety from Wal-Mart *Lunch prior to eating:* 1 L-Glutamine tablet 1 Futurebiotics Hair Skin Nails formula (love this one) (I eat a very light lunch, otherwise 1 L-Glutamine isn't enough). * Supper/Dinner * 1 Futurebiotics Hair Skin Nails 1 L-Glutamine 1 NAGlucosamine If I am feeling really bad or having a major upset, I sometimes take L-Glutamine and even NAGlucosamine after eating a meal too. Along with Aloe - this is a really good team. I ran out of my Aloe Vera Gel capsules but they're a must have. *Sometimes Pills...* I have a 'B' combination that dissolves under my tongue - but I've never had any benefit or could tell any difference from taking it. Different brands do make a difference however I've found out. I take BCAA Fuel from TwinLab on day I work out, right after working out. Like L-Glutamine these are amino acids. I'm not entirely sure this helps. It could be wishful thinking. http://www.amazon.com/TwinLab-BCAA-Fuel-180-Tablets/dp/B000MU4F86/ref=sr_1_2?ie=\ UTF8 & qid=1249437135 & sr=8-2 *Life Style * I have lived a healthy life for awhile. It's really irritating to see people smoking, eating french fries and being HEALTHY. Here i am thinking - 'can I have 4oz of Pepsi today?' -- while they are kicking back 16oz of Mountain Dew. Grr' it's not fair! I try and not have pop. I try to avoid extra sugar wherever possible. I avoid trigger foods that from experience don't digest anymore (raspberry jam, blackberries, tomatos, anything with lots of citric acid, anything with whey...) and I'm slowly introducing foods I like again like apples cautiously. I work out again. I've finally gotten well enough to get back to the gym. I am not sure what this is I have - I know yeast is involved - but I think someday they will find out that it's caused by XYZ and give it a REAL name and make it a REAL diagnosis (you know it's frustrating to hear, " oh you JUST have yeast... " whenever this stuff can wreck your life...) I'm 34, in decent shape and a career person but sometimes I feel a bit nuts taking supplements all the time and watching everything I do and eat. I would say, listen to your body. REST and give your body what it needs to get better. Be cautious - try to work out what works for you. If a supplement makes you sick - don't take it! I'm getting better and I haven't had to swallow two cups of lard per day or soak my private parts in vinegar - some of the bizzaro treatments that promise results in as little as three months if you do horrible things to yourself - don't. I'm not sure that there is a 'super cure' out there for this. Maybe there is - but whatever will kill yeast (and yeast can live in almost any environment imaginable even on plastic and in toxic soup...they've even brought it back to life after millions of years) well - if it kills all your yeast, you probably won't survive -- but that's just my opinion. Be well -- and lets keep exchanging information and doing grass roots research! Guest guest
Thanks for contacting me. I have been taking the Candida Cleanse (Candigone) for one week. It consists of Uva Ursi, Garlic, Oregano, Pau D Arco, and more. There are 2 parts: Pt1=capsules & Pt2=oil. I take 10 drops and 1 capsule in the am and pm. My doctor gave me digestive support capsules to take which consist of HCL, Pepsin, & Gentian Root. I am to take one after meals. I am taking thyroid medication (Levothyroxine), Probiotics (24b-50b)/day, 5000 IU vitamin D, a multi vitamin, adrenal formula capsules 2x/day, 4 DHA capsules/day, digestive enzymes w/meals, 2T ground up flax seeds in am & pm. Have you ever heard of such a bad case of Candida? ________________________________ From: Ivano and Rose <roseandivano@...> candidiasis Sent: Tuesday, August 4, 2009 6:20:02 PM Subject: Re: Hair Loss can you tell me how much of these supplements you take thanks Rose
Guest guest
Thanks Vicky. I have read about Taurine and will try it. Aren't you seeing Dr. Galland? So am I.... did he put you on Taurine? Are you supplementing things beyond his suggestions? Thanks > > > > Wait According to my blood work I am not vitamin deficient. I have read that Taurine might be of benefit.. > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi, I'm not sure if your question is directed at me or someone else, but if it's me, I take one 500mg capsule of Taurine in the morning plus 1 capsule Excitaplus, then at night, 2 hours before bed, I take another 500mg capsule of Taurine and 2 capsules of Travacor (Travacor has Taurine in it too and other ingredients). Probably you could just take Taurine for the hair loss. 1000mg per day. (Googling taurine + hair loss brings up info) Vicky > > can you tell me how much of these supplements you take > > thanks > Rose > >
Guest guest
From research: " Inhibitory effect of sorbitol on sugar metabolism of Streptococcus mutans in vitro and on acid production in dental plaque in vivo " http://cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN & cpsidt=890669 " By the addition of sorbitol to sugar, however, the acid production [of streptococci] was decreased with increasing levels of oxygen. ...Sorbitol also inhibited the acid production in dental plaque in vivo. " Maybe they followed this research to keep germs down in the mouth? Guest guest
I too take 2,000 IU of D3 a day and have been for over a year. There again I was taking it when I remembered, and if I think I haven't taken it now, I take it just in case. I still have the bone pain knees down, but I am hoping it will get better. I do think it helps sometimes. As far as the hair, mine was still falling out on just the D3 and Saw P.. Randy hair loss Posted by: " Ramey " sramey62@... sramey62 Fri Apr 1, 2011 6:49 pm (PDT) My OB/GYN just told me two days ago that many people have hair loss due to vitamin D deficiency.. .and tht 95% of us are deficient in D. She recommends taking D3 in 2000 IU per day! At least. Once I started the D, my long-bone pain left also. My hair is finally getting thicker. I will also try the zinc to ensure that helps...but I have heard too much zinc is not good.
Guest guest
" Does anyone have any tips for dealing with hair loss? I seem to have lost about half my hair in the last six months. My doc said hair loss reflects what your body was going through about three months prior and didn't seemed concerned since my TSH was crazy for awhile, but I just seem to keep losing hair even though my TSH is better now. Please advise, thank you! " * I don't know what you're taking, but a listed side effect of Levothyroxin is hair loss. When I asked my doctor if there was something else I could take, he said the only other medication he could prescribe is Synthoid, and it's basically the same thing as Levothyroxin. I don't know if that's true or not, but since my hair is still falling out eight months after diagnosis, I'd like an answer too. Guest guest
Levothyroxin is IIRC a generic of Synthroid, which is the name brand. Both are T4. Some form of T4 is what is prescribed for the vast majority of hypothyroid patients. Your thyroid gland makes T4 when it is functioning properly; it also produces T3 but I suspect it breaks some of the T4 down into T3. T4 is also broken down to T3 in other parts of your body [liver?], as T3 is what your cells actually use. Nearly everybody has either natural or artificial T4 in their bodies so if it causes massive hair loss I don't see why we aren't all bald...
