Guest guest
I only know about things from my personal experience and what is communicated on the web. If you have just started taking the Imuran, then I would think it is likely to be the cause. I think someone on this list got really, really sick (almost died) in reaction to Imuran. If you have been taking the Imuran for a time and it has not been a problem previously, then Imuran is probably not the problem. Guest guest
Janelle My dr. has been reducing Pred. very slowly only bringing it down 2.5 mg every 2 months. I am finally down to 5mg. I am doing pretty good just very tired. No nausea. Pa.
Guest guest
Dear , It sounds like you could have acid reflux, which, as far as I know, doesn't relate to thyroid disease. Maybe some of the supplements you are taking are upsetting your stomach. If it is acid reflux, there's lots you can do to help, but I don't want to go into it unless you think that's what you have. Guest guest
Are you taking the B vitamins or enzymes on an empty stomach? That would cause your symptoms, I think. Also, I have noticed that digestion issues are associated with HyperT, I don't have nausea, but I burp alot, even when I haven't eaten anything for hours, and even when I drink water. My acupunturist has me taking enzymes with my meals as well as hydrochloric acid. Esther
Guest guest
Copper on an empty stomach can cause nauseau. The stomach and digestive system are all part of this miraculous creation we call our bodies. That's why the thyroid is so important. It impacts many parts of our body. (metabolism, heart rate, hair, nails, bones, reproductive system, skin, etc).

I have lots of info at hand if this is acid reflux. The supplement suggestion triggered a thought -- I've recently begun taking copper, some zinc, and a couple of other things suggested by . Perhaps I'm reacting to that. I'm definitely a little paranoid when it comes to my thyroid, but common sense tells me it would be other parts of the endocrine system that would go out of whack, not the gastrointenstinal tract! Guest guest
Dear Dina, I've divided the pills up into 4 times a day. I " ve read that selenium shouldn't be mixed with vit E and Vit. C and Calcium shouldn't mix with B vitamins, so I space them out now and absolutely no nausea! If it returns I will try the ginger. Thanks, Le Ann

Guest guest
, what's causing the nausea? I think you ought to speak with your doctor right away, if only to see if he or she can reduce your misery. You MUST stay well-nourished. Guest guest
, Email dr.R and they will call you in an estrogen patch. That has happened to quite a few people and usually the patch takes the nausea away in about 15 minutes. Carmen

I barfed many times...whenI drank too fast, or didn't chew well enough. The kids would see me at the dinner table...turning green...and get up and run..and they'd say " moms barfing again'. I figured it all out. Some people can't eat sugar or fat at all...I gan eat some...and I can't eat rice or ice cream..some people can't eat pasta....you're just going to have to try things slowly can carefully..and soon you'll be on your way to feeling better! Guest guest
Hi , I felt nausea today. I got the MGB on 3/12/01. I am also craving cold, cold drinks. Nothing seems to help the thirst lately. I thought maybe the nausea was due to me now eating much at lunch. After I had dinner I felt a bit better. I am also tired a lot. Hopefully, that will pass. Romy 298/270/165 Nausea Hi everyone! I'm really glad to be a part of the post-op group. I've got a question that some of you who have been post-opers for a while might be able to help with. I had my MGB on 3/8/01 and have been doing just fine with my liquids, supplements, etc. All of a sudden during the past week I have started feeling really thirsty (and I am drinking the same amounts of gatorade as before) and really, really nauseaous (sp?) two or three times a day. I'm not actually throwing up, but I sure feel as though I could at any minute. Has anyone else experienced these boughts of nausea? If so, please tell me they passed soon! Cincinnati, OH 294/264/?? Guest guest
Hi all-- Still having bouts of nausea and dehydration. One day I'm fine and the next its barf city. I also think part of the problem is the fact that my sinuses are running because I have a lot of mucous in the back of my throat and what comes up. Its been fun the last 2 days--vomit city. Guest guest
Hi , I'm 3.5 months out and believe I've finally gotten into a pattern that works. It took me a while to relearn how and what and when to eat. I spent almost 2 full months on liquid and soft foods but then reintroduced foods as desired. The only real item I've found doesn't sit well is white rice. Had a rabid dog foam thing happening with cramps for an hour or two and decided I could live life without white rice rather than tempt the same outcome. Have had no major problems with other foods (including other rice, pasta, etc) but have recently found myself moving away from meat and things with grease (giving up my membership in the Orange Team - sorry). But am back to looking for TASTE and TEXTURE not volume. Also found that DRY foods are not a favorite. Pasta with lots of sauce, grilled chicken in a salad works but alone needs some BBQ or other sauce or it just sort of sits as a lump in my tummy. I loved spicy foods - sport peppers, italian and and spicy asian cuisewere some of my favorites - and thought I would be giving these up. Have found that is definately not the case - as long as I don't eat too much. Have also found myself migrate toward salads - especially with a little high quality balsamic vinegar based dressing for a tangy touch. It took me a few weeks to relearn, but I've avoided reflux by watching what I drink / eat before bed (gave up apple juice - which seemed to cause nightime reflux at times - in favor of Gatorade - with ice so that it is a bit watered down to a 2:1 gatorade:water ratio, it was too sweet for my tastes). Am surprised at what I can eat (variety NOT volume) and have had no real problems to speak of. Actually feel better than I ever imagined. I think everyone has found they can do best when they listen to their new body. At thimes I think I eat too much but other days have no interest in food at all. I listen to my stomach as much as possible and have found that this works for me. You are not in this alone, but there IS light at the end of the tunnel.
