Guest guest
Trudy-- Thanks for the input--have the .1mg patch on as we speak--it has helped but still nauseated. Went back to just soup and Gatorade. Hopefully it will settle down in a while. Thanks again. Caron
Guest guest
Caron, Please check with Dr. R about the nausea, he put me on an estrogen patch for a couple of weeks, really helped!! ) Trudy Re: Nausea Hi all-- Still having bouts of nausea and dehydration. One day I'm fine and the next its barf city. I also think part of the problem is the fact that my sinuses are running because I have a lot of mucous in the back of my throat and what comes up. Its been fun the last 2 days--vomit city. Caron MGB 3-28-

Guest guest
I felt nausea all the time. Also I believe it to be a bowel symptom, if someone would have told me that sooner I may not be where I am right now. I became so nauseous that I felt I was going to vomit. I would go to the bathroom to puke in the toilet and just when I thought my stomach contents would leave me I got a sudden urge to have a bowel movement. So instead of bending over I sat down to take a dump and the nausea ended. I told you I was messed up. After I was treated for 2 years on Nystatin these episodes ended. However today I notice if I eat sugar, when it gets to my bowels I get nausea attacks until it, the sugar moves out of my system. I had also wondered if it is just a sugar sensitivity but since the Nystatin improved things I will lay my money on the yeast. Guest guest
Yes, nausea, dehydration, and fatigue are HUGE side effects from HepC. The treatment will only enhance these side effects. You need to be sure to drink more water than you ever have in your life while on treatment. The Interferon can affect your kidneys so you need to keep them flushed. Fatigue while on treatment can be very dibilitating as well. Nausea goes hand in hand with treatment as well. <br><br>Not everyone suffers badly from these sides, but others do. Guest guest
Amber, That's great. I saw those in the drug store when I went on the mad search for pill organizer. I'm not bothered with nausea no that I'm on Cellcept but this might be a possibility if they switch me back to Imuran. Glad it works for you. Guest guest
Hello this is ann from MN. I too suffered from severe nausea and vomitting with my PBC. When I went to my doc he gave me a prescription for Aciphex. It is the same time drug as Zantac Prilosec etc. My theory is the acids gets so screwed up in our system it irritates our stomach. The day I started taking this med my nausea and vomitting stopped. And there are virtually no side effects to this type of med that I know of. Hope you feel better soon. annMN [ ] Nausea Joanne, I had no idea that nausea tends to go with liver disease. For thefirst time since AIH dx in 1995 (then additional dx of PBC in 1999) I havebeen having a terrible problem with nausea - almost daily, sometimesaccompanied by vomiting; I broke down and bought Emetrol. I have takenAtarax for something else (I forget, itching?) but knew nothing about itbeing helpful for nausea. I guess Phenergen is by prescription. I naggedand threatened my PCP into moving my appt from May 10 to April 22nd, so Iwill definitely ask about this. All I've done for weeks is take heartburnmeds; the problem with this is that the pain is in my neck. So I amclueless. Of course I also have autoimmune thyroid disease and, oh, shoot,I can't remember the other autoimmune thing! "Nausea tends to go with liver disease....if it isn't connected toanother problem then Atarax is great for nausea, and a strongeranti-nausea med is Phenergen. Guest guest
Pat, Most likely H. Pylori.... I know it really could make me feel nauseated, especially if I had an empty stomach. And I would throw up pure bile as well. Since you backed off the PrevPak, you will need to take a new script, as it is really necessary to take the meds the FULL 14 days. Trust me, missing some doses even if you feel better, or even finishing up the total amount of drugs after missing some days or doses... It does really matter with this bug. Been There Done That! Yogurt and acidophyllis both help to replace the good bacteria back into the intestines which in turn decreases diarrhea. Guest guest
, I've already had my gall bladder removed. I think I have found the problem. I hate to have to admit it, but I think I caused my own problem by not doing all that I was supposed to. I have always had a " sensitive " stomach. Any emotional upsets or different foods always have caused diarrhea. I had IBS for several years until I found out that white flour was causing that. At two weeks post-op, when I was supposed to start the Actigall, it gave me terrible diarrhea and gas. You could hear my stomach rolling in the next room. It felt like I had one of those creatures from the movie, " Alien " inside me. So I stopped the Actigall. I tried it again a few days later and the same thing happened. This time, I rationalized that since I had already had gall bladder surgery, I didn't really need the Actigall and I did not try to take it again. I kept telling myself that I would try it again later, but that it was not too important (former gall bladder surgery and all...). So I was not on the Actigall....at all. Later, when the nausea was so bad and I sent the e-mail below to this list, I decided to do some internet research on nausea and weight loss surgery. I read a LOT about it, but found the answer (for me) in a Search of Dr. Rutledge's site, where he said that he had been able to help people with bile reflux and nausea by using antacids and Actigall. it was like a lightbulb went on for me, rather belatedly. I went immediately and took an Actigall and suffered the consequences, but the nauea went away. I've been on the Actigall (only once daily, so far) for three days now. I've got BAD diarrhea and massive amounts of gas---but no nausea. I can only pray that my body will adjust to the Actigall, but I'd rather have this than the nausea. My reason for " fessing up " about this is so it will be in the alist rchives if anyone else has intractable nausea, perhaps they will find it and it can help them. Guest guest
Hi Pat, My name is Rhonda . I had surgery with Dr. R. on November 30, 2000. I had the same type of nausea that you are talking about for about the first 2 1/2 to 3 months after surgery. Dr. R. prescribed a hormone patch for me. It did help, but it did not take the nausea away completely. You may want to ask his office about the hormone patch if you are not already on one. I'm not sure how far out you are from your surgery. My nausea started just a few days after I had surgery, so if you haven't had it from the start it may be something different for you. I also was treated for the H. Pylori, but when I had that it was a different kind of nausea that I was feeling. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Hi Rhonda, Thanks for the information. I've began having the nausea about 4 weeks out. It's there all the time, except when I have just eaten or when I drink a lot of Gatorade. (Go figure...) I wonder if the latter is possibly because I've " watered down " the bile that is making me feel nauseated. I only threw up once and that was pure bile. I am hoping Dr. Rutledge will see this e-mail and give me an opinion. Dana prescribed the PrevPac for me, but it gave me such bad diarrhea, that I took it for 1 1/2 days and had to back off. Then, the Actigall helped for a few days and I thought the problem was over. Now it has started again. I will start the PrevPac again if I have to, but am hoping that there is another cause for the nausea. How old are you? I am 59 and menopausal. I wonder if the hormone patch would still help me. Thanks again, Pat Re: Nausea Hi Pat, My name is Rhonda . I had surgery with Dr. R. on November 30, 2000. Guest guest
Hi Pat, I'm a little behind on reading the post right now. It sure sounds like H-pylori. I hope you have found out what is wrong by now and have found something that helps you to get over it. I have problems with diarrhea all the time, so I can feel for you. I have resorted to taking Amodium AD because it has been so bad. I can't even imagine being constipated like some people have talked about. I take my Citrucel and still have problems with it. I will be 47 in July. Not quite menopausal yet, but I'm waiting. Of course, I'm not to anxious to go through all the junk that goes along with it. I think you should call Dr. R.'s office if you have not yet and get some advice from them about taking the PrevPac and the diarrea that it gives you. It sounds like you need to be on something for your symptoms. Good luck and I hope you get to feeling better real soon. Maybe its just the miud on other things instead of dwelling on it. The only med that I am currently on is Actigall or URSO..If that is what is causing the nausea then I have not noticed it until now..and I have been on it for 2 months now. Maybe if if I pray really hard..my LFTs have gone down and I am on TO much actigall at this point...wouldnt that be nice... Thanks everyone Tracey
Guest guest
Tracey, what you describe was what I felt like on Imuran and Cellcept. When they switched me to 6MP, I felt much better. Debby [ ] nausea Can everyone tell me about their nausea if you have it or have had it to any degree??I just had my labs done today because I have had terrible nausea in the last 2 weeks. Its not with me all day. Usually in the morning when I get up...and then again in the evening. I have waves of it during the day. I have not have any vomiting..just feeling like I am going to.When you have it do you usually have vomiting? Is it the feeling like everything is going to find its way out? Or is it that pain in the upper part of the stomach near the breastbone that nags at you all day?I have had all of these. I just dont know which is common with the elevated LFTs.With a 9 month old sitting on my lap...a 12 year old at my feet..a 16 and 17 year old on the road...I can happily say that I cannot attribute this nausea to pregnancy....haha.I will find out the results of my labs tomorrow and hope that they are not the cause of my sick feeling. Thanks Tracey
