Guest guest
Hi Group, Yes I did start LDN finally.I have Multiple Sclerosis(ms) since the past 4 yrs and on Avonex since the past 3yrs.I have balance problems and cant stand for longer than 5 mins. This wednesday I stopped Avonex and shifted to a dose of 4.5mg every night at 10:00. My question is what difference/ side effects should I notice since I started LDN as I only have little stiffness in my legs only in the mornings and no other symptoms/ improvements.? How long does LDN take to affect? and Is it working for me? and What Improvements can I expect from it and in how long? Thanx in advance
Guest guest
Congratulations on starting LDN! Be prepared to give it at least 6 months, and some people say even after that they still feel they are getting more benefits. Some people find their legs get stiff or they have spasms, this will go away. Some people have trouble sleeping or staying asleep for the first two weeks, this too should pass. Some people just feel better, stronger, more clear headed...and some people just feel no different at all! You are really taking it to stop your MS from getting any worse so not feeling any different would be considered a good thing! You might not notice any small changes in how you feel but then realise in a month or so that you generally feel better. Most people decide to take it forever. My husband has taken it for 6 years and doesnt plan on stopping - he rarely gets even a cold! Good luck!Bev low dose naltrexone CC: munishbajaj@...From: munishbajaj9@...Date: Sat, 26 Mar 2011 22:52:01 +0530Subject: [low dose naltrexone] Finally on LDN Hi Group, Yes I did start LDN finally.I have Multiple Sclerosis(ms) since the past 4 yrs and on Avonex since the past 3yrs.I have balance problems and cant stand for longer than 5 mins. This wednesday I stopped Avonex and shifted to a dose of 4.5mg every night at 10:00. Guest guest
The old adage, " everybody is different " really applies here. At its best, it works for everybody instantly, as it only promises to stop progression and if your MS is not progressing, then it is working. But I think that you are asking more than that. Many of us saw improvements in symptoms almost immediately, usually starting with less fatigue and a general uplifting of mood and energy. Other symptoms took much longer, like my terrible intolerance of heat started to go away after about 7 months and was totally gone the next spring when the weather started getting warmer, so not sure exactly when that symptom was " cured. " Always remember that there will be ups and downs, and some downs are actually ups. Let me explain. The symptoms that you get from a cold or flu, are not caused by the cold or flu. They are caused by the immune system reacting to the cold or flu. When you have an infection or other problem, the immune system kicks in to protect and heal you. That healing action of the body and immune system, causes reactions -- histamines, fevers, aches and pains -- while it does its job. With the upgrading and realigning of the immune system, latent or chronic infections or other illnesses will start to be worked on, and you will feel like you have the flu. This means that the LDN is WORKING. Some people think that it means that they are sicker, but in fact, they are finally getting well. Those symptoms are how they can tell that their immune system is finally getting to work. Does that start to make sense?
