I got eczema on my arms but for me it was when I started iodine.  Iodine is known to push a bromide detox response and for my body detoxing bromides seems to come out in the skin; eczema on my forearms, some acne type stuff on face/head.  What I decided for me is my detox pathways need some help, and my candida levels were probably high again.  So I decided to take a short break from the Iodine and concentrate on getting my detox pathways up to par and any candida levels back down.  The eczema has almost completely cleared up.  I will give it another week I think and then re-introduce the iodine again.  I have maintained my LDN though, I just feel it is too important for keeping my ulcerative colitis in check.

I mention the iodine because I wonder if there are other things you are doing/taking?  I have read a lot lately that skin conditions indicate poor liver clearance and poor detox pathways.

Just some thoughts.

I've been  diagnosed with Fibromylagia, chronic fatigue and interstitial cystitis as well as arthritis and disc disease.Started the LDN four weeks ago at 4.5 for the all of problems, but mostly for the eczema. It flared bad so Skips told me to dump it in 4.5 of distilled water and drink 1.5 for a month and slowly increase. I had stopped the steroid cream 6 months ago and eczema got worse and worse. Now it is awful and getting on my face. I cannot take it on my face. I stopped all sugar as well as the continued no grain diet and saw a little improvement, but thought the LDN was stirring up my allergies.

Anyone else had the eczema problem? I see that shingles is a problem, too.------------------------------------

Hello Jaxi,I am new to this list will probably start my LDN Friday night.I am interested in your reaction to Iodine. Is it possible that you are allergic to it? Do you have shell fish allergies? (The two allergies tend to go together, and I have both.) Eczema can be an allergic response to foods/meds, and I had eczema in the past from eating potatoes that cleared up once I quit eating them.My best,Sue

True iodine allergy is super super extremely rare.  People who think they are allergic to iodine - because they reacted to contrast dye for example - are actually allergic to other things in the dye and the iodine gets blamed.  So no, I do not believe I have an iodine allergy.  Iodine pushes bromides out of the system - which is a good thing since they don't belong there - but if your detox pathways are not in great shape it can be a bit hard on the system.  And/or if you have a LOT of bromides to push out - which I suspect I do given the amount of environmental crap I am exposed to all the time (computers, new construction, etc etc).

I also quit eating nightshade plants last summer after I realized they were causing arthritis type symptoms.  So no potatoes in my diet right now.  ;-)  And no problems with shell fish.
