Guest guest
I personally think that people feel less depressed once getting the benefits from LDN. If their disease feels less awful, therefor some depression lifts. I dont know if you would use it "just" for depression it would be so remarkable. As a cancer preventative I would absolutely use it. For Fibro and all autoimmune stuff too. Then again since there seems to be no obvious long term negative effects of using it, then why not! I do think it`s dangerous to think of it as a miracle pill or a cure for all problems so as long as people take it with an open mind and not be disappointed if it doesnt help with absolutely everything. low dose naltrexone From: all-natural-nut@...Date: Wed, 13 Apr 2011 23:05:42 +0000Subject: [low dose naltrexone] how casual to be about LDN recommendation? Granted, the effect is much more subtle, but it beats eating tons of chocolate! So here's the thing...I have returning symptoms of Fibromyalgia, so I know it's appropriate for me to try. I'm just wondering how I talk about it to others. I'm excited! What about friends who are depressed but no diagnosis?I know the official answer is "talk with your doctor," but I get the impression members of this list are a little more open-minded. Are you implying that if something runs in the family there is nothing that can be done? Rather fatalistic is it not?As to talking to others, do not worry, they will not listen anyway. We are each responsible for our health, take care of yours and do not worry about those who will not.StirlingFrom: allnatural_nut <all-natural-nut@...>Subject: [low dose naltrexone] how casual to be about LDN recommendation?low dose naltrexone Date: Wednesday, April 13, 2011, 4:05 PM I've been in LDN-immersion (in terms of learning) for a couple weeks now. Guest guest
For your questions:I have several friends who use it "just" for depression. For those of us with physical chronic diseases, it is easy to think that getting rid of depression is just a lark. But to those who suffer from it, it is incredibly serious. One of my friends in Sweden had a bad back injury. They put her on heavy duty pain relievers and then added drugs to counteract each new drug side effect, until she was incapable of functioning -- does that sound familiar to anybody? For two years, she wallowed in deep depression, to the point that her teeth started to rot. Typical of most of us who find their way here, she finally took some control of herself and weaned off of most of the drugs. That helped physically, but left her still deeply depressed. Then she saw the difference that LDN made in me and had me ship her some. She now orders it from the same place that I get it. For the last year, she is a changed person. She is on the internet every day, has gone back to school to brush up on useful computer languages and is applying for a job and getting off of welfare. Depression was totally debilitating to her. She will not do without her LDN.Cancer prevention? I think that this is a huge possibility. My uterine cancer predated my start of LDN, but in spite of the tumor inside the uterus (where the immune system does not really function), there was no metastasis in the lymph nodes or surrounding area. I attribute that to the fortunately use of LDN before I was aware that I even had cancer. I would use it for prevention, and in fact, do use it for that (along with ALA).Just because? You bet. My husband and sister have no issues that they can identify, but they started it anyway, after seeing me recovering from my MS and my mother from her Crohn's. Who would not want a better immune system, especially in today's high stress, chemical filled environment? The fun thing is finding the benefits, even when none are expected. My husband never thought that it would eliminate his deathly allergy to poison ivy. As a farmer, this was big, but he started taking it "just because" and now can play in the stuff, when he had been hospitalized in the past. I don't think that comparing it to heroin is a fair comparison, although we often jokingly call it our Snake Oil. It seems like it is a help with just about anything that ails ya, and if it does not exactly cure that, the positive side effects can be huge. Take for instance the inconvenience of having candida blossom. It does not cause the candida, but it sure will let you know that you are harboring it. Whether it is overwhelming or not, it needs to be dealt with and LDN will let you know that. For those who have MS and LDN does not help -- so many of them discover that they actually have Lyme's and the immune suppressing drugs that their neurologists have been pushing on them are EXACTLY what they should NOT be taking. This is a blessing in disguise. It did not cure their MS, but it did tell them that they are on the wrong track and will never get well with what their doctors are telling them. At least with this, they can seek more effective treatment.LDN needs to be seen as a cure, a health food, a diagnostic tool, a re-aligner of one's health system. Not all of one's friends will center on it immediately, but all we can do is to save ourselves first and then offer them the information and hope that they will eventually take it. I hope that I have waylaid some of your hesitation in recommending LDN. The best way to recommend it is to take it successfully. You cannot push a rope, only pull it along. That is the way that I see with bringing others to LDN. Lead the way. Some will follow.Franciehttp://LDN-for-MS.com> I've been in LDN-immersion (in terms of learning) for a couple weeks now. Guest guest
I was giving it to my husband " just because " he is always tired, joints achy, grumpy... no official dx but if he pursued it (doctors annoy him) then he could probably get a CFS dx. He said he didn't notice any difference in the way he was feeling. But when he was doing his daily chores whistling instead of grumbling, well that seemed worth the price of admission (for me!)
