Hello all,

I need to ask if others treated for lyme have had C diff

infections and how they were able to treat it successfully?

My C diff was treated in April 08/ July 08 and had left me with

lasting GI dysfunction. I continue to experience abdominal swelling,

burning, core pain, and diarrhea/IBS symptoms. I feel like someone has

beat me up and am in need of networking with others who could help

give me some hope. Has anyone found excellent gastro doctors in PA, DE

or NJ??

Following very aggressive lyme/Bart/Babesia treatment

(IV/orals) and sinus infection med (Augmentin/Zith) , I am still

suffering from much GI and immunity issues. I developed very bad c

diff, treated it and am now getting progressively worse in spite of

negative c. diff tests. The colonoscopy and upper endoscopy were

normal. I did have a variety of other parasites stool tests and

bacteria biopsied by the GI doctor and all were negative. My white

blood cell count keeps lowering to the 2.6 level and the total

lymphocytes to 518. There are other labs off as well, such as

globulin,

albumin/globulin, AST, Low Iron, as well as other deficiencies.

I went for a second opinion and the GI dr diagnosed post

infectious irritable bowel syndrome. He ordered a cat scan which was

negative as well.

I take very good probiotics, yet my symptoms are worsening. I am

exploring that this may have kicked off celiac/crohn's and have

eliminated as many possible trigger foods as possible. I was negative

on the celiac test, yet understand it is still possible to test

negative with the disease. I avoid dairy, fats, alcohol, corn,

artificial sweetners, etc yet do not notice a difference thus far. I

did send for various books on how the diet can affect your system.

I seem to keep going back to square one and would like to hear

if others have been through the same problem with the GI effects.

I also would like to know if others have had the low white blood cell

count as well? Are there GI/ Hematologist doctors you would recommend

in the PA, DE or NJ area?

Off Topic: I also would like to hear if others have had success with a

newer lyme drug, Alinia? The lyme dr I see suggested the Alinia, but I

have heard it is very expensive and causes GI effects.

Thank you for any feedback you can offer me.
