Hello, I can recommend an excellent Doctor by name of Gaito located

at:

211 South Finley Avenue

Basking Ridge, NJ 07920

Telephone Number 908 766 0339

This is about 25 miles north of New Brunswick taking highway 287 and about a

five minute drive from 287 to her office. I have been her patient since

February of 2002.

She was the President of the ILDA, I suppose for one year as I believe it

rotates every year. She is absolutely top notch in all Lyme aspects and the

cross infections that often accompany a Lyme disease infection.

I should advise you that she requires payment up front and then takes care

of all insurance paper work so you will receive reimbursement from your

insurance company.

If you want more information feel free to call me at 732 297 9678.

Best regards and good luck!

We are not supposed to be saying the names of Dr's publicly on these groups, as

to protect the Dr's. I will say that 3 people in my family were seen by the Dr.

named below for several years until one of us took a turn for the worse. It was

at that time that Dr. abandonded us and refused treatment. I am now permanantly

disabled. My contact info is penni49@...

Restating the rules for everyone:

We do *not* post the names or contact info of our cherished LLMDs to

this list. This is for their own protection: you never know who's

reading here, looking for doctors to harass.

Sharing that information is important; but it's equally important to

keep it totally off-list.

Dr Gaito is a Director at The International Lyme and Associated

Diseases Society.

http://www.ilads.org/officers.html

Her name can be found as an author on a number of research

publications concerning Lyme disease.

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/

She is a well known and well respected doctor/reseacher in the Lyme

disease community. Hiding her name will only harm and impede her

wonderful reputation. Clearly she wants the world know how she feels

about this scientific debate and is willing to fight (very publicly)

on our behalf.

I believe the best we can do for these brave souls is support them

whenever we get the chance. Mentioning their names, explaining their

involvments in organizations and reporting on their research will

only advance their reputations. Lets not hinder the great work they

are doing by hiding it or treating it as a priviledged secret. Her

knowledge and research should be available to every one of us.

After all, the folks who disagree with her already know all about her

research. Why should they be the only ones with that information?

I agree wholeheartedly with Robynn. Treating it like it's a secret does

not help anyone. We need to treat this disease like any other disease -

out in the open. Strength in numbers. When it seems like there are only

a few... no one will pay attention.

It's very easy to be brave on behalf of other people.

But I've already had one doctor shot out from under me by a medical

board. He was the top Lyme expert in Canada -- and published in

several dozen places that will readily pop up in Google.

He diagnosed my Lyme on a Tuesday, and retired that same Friday.

Complaints had been filed, and it was either close up his shop or go

through the indignity of a hearing and having his license pulled.

Publishing and speaking out publicly on Lyme didn't protect him -- it

just made it easier to find him. Like most Lyme doctors, it was

complaints from the insurance companies and his patients' GPs that did

him in.

Even though I found my current Lyme doctor by googling Lyme experts in

the Seattle area -- and he's right out front on the web about what he

does -- I still don't pass along his notes and treatment information

to my own GP or any other doctor. Since I have no idea who may decide

to cause Dr. R trouble (but am pretty sure that if it ever happens, it

will be another doctor or insurance company who does the deed), the

best thing I can do is keep the specifics of my own relationship with

him out of the hands of other doctors and insurers altogether.

And that does include keeping his name off this list, because you

never know who is monitoring any online group. Sure, someone with bad

intentions may be able to find our doctors' names on Google; but

that's not enough to make a case with. But if they lurk here, they

can actually gather specific, name-linked evidence that Dr. X is

giving unapproved treatment to Patient Y. And that, in turn, is enough

evidence to take to a judge to get subpoenas for our medical records,

which would be definitive evidence before a medical board. A lot of

what we discuss here could give a clever investigator just enough

critical basic information to build detailed cases against specific

doctors -- cases that could never be proven on the mere strength of

Google searches.

Given that risk, I think we're doing our doctors a great service by

keeping their names off this list. Researchers are a different matter

-- they're not likely to be targeted, because they don't see patients.

But we can't afford to lose any more doctors to the inquisitors; and

we shouldn't kid ourselves about how often that happens, or what role

these discussions could play in creating dangerous situations for them.

I think we need to be very, very proactive in defending our doctors.

That starts with keeping their names off this list, or any list where

specific treatments are being discussed.
