Guest guest
I was on Armour at 90mcg and before that on Synthroid 150 mcg overall for a period of about 8 years. I have been off of it for about 2 months. I also used to feel tired after taking my Armour after I started the no card diet. So I stoped it. Conclusion was made that my hashimoto hypothyroidism was caused by candida so I'm trusting the diet will fix it. I have been having more and more energy and my staying warmer longer. So overall, it appears that improvements are being made. Unless you've already done so, I would encourage you to request a full thyroid panel, not just TSH and T4 which is what most docs use to diagnose Hypo-T. Free T3 & free T4 are more important to know than the TT4 levels or TSH. So I would ask your doc to run FT4, FT3, TT4, TT3, TSH, T antibodies along with liver panel (in case it is your liver that cannot make the conversion from T4 to T3). This diet has helped me. [ ] thyroid Bee, I did start on Armour last Friday. I was taking 0.075 mg. of Levoxyl ,and I started on 30 mg. of Armour. Yesterday the headache was really bad after I took the Armour. It causes very bad stomach problems with food, not like indigestion. I would also get nauseated. I am not taking it today, and will take 15 mg. tomorrow. I am so sensitive to meds, even though this is natural meds. I also get very tired after taking the Armour. I have an appointment to see my doc in six weeks. It also gives me a doctor jekyll and doctor hyde effect! The Levoxyl would always give me mild headaches, but this stuff is bad! They have never caused headaches or stomach problems. I can't imagine that they would cause those problems. Maybe try cutting it up and taking small pieces spread throughout the day. Guest guest
Tamara - There are numerous reasons why natural thyroid hormone is better than synthetic hormone. Please write to me aside if you want any information or links. I believe Bee is in agreement on natural thyroid hormone, should you have to take thyroid hormone. It seems many of us here have this issue. I got sicker and sicker until I started supplementing with Armour thyroid and then went to another level of improvement with this candida diet. Guest guest
Tamara - I'm not sure kelp powder is very good to take and don't think you need that much iodine. Perhaps Bee has a different opinion, but are you taking kep powder just for your thyroid? I think it could be more harmful than good. All the symptoms you mention are classic thyroid issues and then again, they overlap with candida issues too. But IMO, your thyroid should be treated with those symptoms. ~Anita Tamara <tamaratornado@...> wrote: I eat lots and lots of coconut oil, I love it. Getting rid of the candida is most important because the toxins cause all of the body's cells to go rigid, which means even if your body is producing plenty of thyroid hormones they are not getting into the cells where they are needed to to their job. Guest guest
Hi Bee, I just figured out that I am having a severe thyroid problem. I can't believe I did not pick up on this sooner, my mother takes thyroid medication. I have been having serious mood swings, a lot of crying, my hair is falling out, I have a hoarse voice, zero labido, dry, brittle, peeling nails, dry hair, and this internal tense-ness that I just can't get rid of. Here is my problem; I have been eating mostly cruciferous vegetables and I think they are exacerbating the symptoms. I remember a week or so ago you were advising someone that raw cabbage should be avoided by those that have thyroid conditions (I didn't think this applied to me at the time) but that kimchi, rejuvelac, sauerkraut, and cooked cabbage are ok. Well yesterday I ate raw cabbage in the form of cole slaw, sauerkraut, and I had some rejuvelac, mustard, raw turnip, and brussell sprouts and today I am absolutely miserable. Angry, moody, very tense, and sad. With all that being said what do I do? Do I need a hormone? Everytime I have been tested my numbers are usually on the low end of normal but I also remember you telling someone that the tests are not a good indicator because they don't indicate what the hormone levels are inside the cells just that they are present in the blood stream, if I understood this correctly. Does one need a prescription for Armour? Do you think my Doc has ever heard of it? He hasn't been helpful at all in my candida battle so I am leary of even broaching this topic with him but I need some help, I can not live like this. I am about to go out of my mind lately. Please advise me Bee. Thanks, Shirley

Hi Shirley, Just wanted to let you know that I have thyroid issues that have been diagnosed and have all the same symptoms (except for hoarse voice), but I do get pressure in my throat. The internal tenseness is terrible. I vibrate intenally sometimes. Many symptoms can come from other things too, but if your mother has it then that makes it a good possibility. > Does one need a > prescription for Armour? Do you think my Doc has ever heard of it? You can do a search for a doctor in your area that will prescribe it. I will see him in about 3 weeks. Most doctors that prescribe it tend to be a bit more open to alternative med., so i am hoping this one I've found will helpful with my candida battle as well. That would be great if you could find the same! Trish
Guest guest
Thanks for the info and for sharing Trish. I did an experiment this morning, I had some cabbage rejuvelac and within about 15 minutes I got the hoarse voice. Then this afternoon I had about 1/2 cup of cooked turnip and within 30 minutes I got a seriously tense and stiff neck. I have been eating all the wrong foods because I didn't know I had a thyroid problem. It is good to find out exactly what is wrong but this narrows down my food choices considerably. arrrgghhhh Shirley >From: " Trisha Mountan " <tmountan@...> >Hi Shirley, > >Just wanted to let you know that I have thyroid issues that have been >diagnosed and have >all the same symptoms (except for hoarse voice), but I do get pressure in >my throat. Your thyroid may be malfunctioning or it's hormones may not be getting into the cells but that is extremely common when you have candida, and your symptoms are also very common but they are not necessarily all caused by a lack of thyroid hormones. Everything points to a lack of good oils & fats, including vitamins A, D & E, omega 3 and saturated fats (coconut oil, butter, lard, etc.), and possibly B vitamins. If you are taking the recommended amounts, you might need to UP your vitamin A for awhile - take 100,000 IUs per day of halibut liver oil capsules (without vitamin D), and after 1 months stop for 2-3 days, and then continue another month. Hopefully within 2-3 months, if you are getting high enough ratios of fats daily, plus this treatment your symptoms should improve. Let me know how it goes. >The cabbage family kills candida (broccoli included), and probiotics do to, so your reactions may not be caused by your thyroid. I think you had a lot of probiotics in one day, which could have created healing reactions. Bee

At that time they believed that basal body temperature was a measure of thyroid malfunction and I was given natural dessicated thyroid, plus Lugol's iodine. However body temperature and other related symptoms may appear to because by thyroid malfunction when it isn't, and overtreating or tampering with the thyroid can cause it to behave quite irratically. Well, that's what happened to my thyroid. I got serious Graves disease (overactive thyroid) and had to have it zapped with radiation to avoid a heart attack or stroke. ==>Also Dr. Mercola does not recommend starting on thyroid meds, but supporting the thyroid through supplements and diet - do a search on www.mercola.com. The thyroid is not causing the problem when you have candida, candida is. If one goes off into different directions treating this and that we are doing what doctors do, and that is to treat symptoms and not causes, which in the end will not help. As you progress on the candida program your thyroid will normalize more and more, and you will not experience the symptoms you have now. Guest guest
Bee, I am familiar with your thyroid history and I trust you implicitly but I don't think I painted an accurate enough picture of my status. For the past 4 months on your diet I have been eating raw broccoli, turnip (cooked or raw), dry mustard (in my mayo), raw cabbage, kimchi or sauerkraut and recently the rejuvelac EVERYDAY. I had no clue I had a thyroid problem due to my bloodwork coming back ok. So this whole time I have been eating too many brassicas not knowing the consequences. I can REALLY appreciate what you went through because if I did not figure this out I could have easily had a heart attack. I was so stressed out and crying everyday and I had this uncontrollable rage inside me constantly. I thought my school schedule was just too much and I couldn't handle it. Well, as soon as I eliminated the above mentioned foods I calmed right down. I can not believe the difference! It took a few days but I feel like everything is going to be ok now. My hair has stopped falling out as well (best part) but I still have the raspy voice. At this point though I am leary of going back to even the fermented cabbage foods like sauerkraut or the rejuvelac. Can you recommend a good acidophilus that I can get in the states? The Trophic brand you have suggested in the past is about $20 USD just to have shipped. Also are there any other foods or herbs/spices that you can think of that I should avoid? I am curious what happens biochemically to me when I eat the cruciferous veggies in conjunction with the thyroid. I read on Mercola's cite how coconut oil is beneficial for metabolism and hormone production but more is not better in this case either right? Is it possible to overstimulate the thyroid with VCO and develop hyperthyroid? I agree with your assessment of not treating symptoms because I know that candida is responsible for ALL of my ailments and I also do not wish to go on thyroid meds, organic or not, so if I stay the course it should correct itself? Thanks for being my rock when I needed it. I was in panic mode last week for sure.
