Isn't Pallone the one who has held this bill up in committee? It

doesn't seem he deserves any kudos at least not from me-

He held it up for good reason....do you want the government and IDSA to get

their hands on the 10 million a year.....I tell people to READ the bill and

they can see for themselves..The bill isn't for the patients....why do you

think IDSA wants the bill to go through?

PERMISSION TO RE-POST::

DEAR FRIENDS:

Kuods to Pallone for not putting this very dangerous legislation

through! Portions of the two bills currently in committee are SO very

anti-Lyme that their passage (of the whole bill) will doom us all!

While I know Bob Bransfield has stated his support for the legislation,

everyone needs to read it and think carefully about the bills wording.

HR 741IH, S 1708S = Very bad for our Lyme community because it gives

the gov't power to harm us even more and directs the government to act .

.. . , such as . . .

1. The Go'vt is directed to conduct Lyme protocol-setting activities and

physician-education. The language requiring the involvement of the " full

spectrum " of scientific research means nothing. If ILADS thinks this

bill helps them, they are sorely wrong.

AND

2. The Gov't is directed to sponsor a scientific conference, meaning the

gov't controls the entire process from the people included and the

people they empower to *decide* the new standard. That standard forms

the basis of a fully up-to-date protocol that every company and insurer

will use as the new standard. The additional danger is that no state

AG can undue what the Federal Gov't endorses . . . so there will never

be another chance to go and criticize a private medical group for its

method of protocol development (e.g. Ct's AG Blumenthal's complaint

against IDSA).

AND

3. The Gov't is given $100 million to grant to whoever it wants - which

will be Steere, Yale, etc. for more of the same. <<<THESE ARE THE ENEMIES

WITH IDSA.... Not one penny will go to anyone on our side.

IDSA has already written that it supports this part of the bill. Anyone

supporting these Lyme bills are in the same camp as IDSA.

YOU NEED TO CALL YOUR SENATOR AND HOUSE MEMBER AND OPPOSE THIS LEGISLATION.

ASK THAT NEXT YEAR, A HEARING IS HELD BEFORE ANY NEW BILL IS SPRUNG ON

THE COMMUNITY.

WE DO NOT NEED 1990'S LEGISLATION RECYCLED, AS IT HAS BEEN DONE OVER THE

PAST YEARS, WE NEED NEW LEGISLATION THAT EVERYONE HAS A CHANCE TO SEE.

THERE NEEDS TO BE NO MORE SECRETS ON THE WORDING OF ANY FUTURE FEDERAL

LEGISLATION. NO ONE SHOULD BE KING OR QUEEN OF LEGISLATION - WE NEED

EVERYONE ENGAGED!

MY BEST,

KAREN.
