Hello

please help!

I need an understandable expanation of Bartonellosis.

my doctor (who is an MD who practices Complementary and Alternative

Medicine) diagnosed me yesterday with Bartonellosis based on the two

western blots (both showed the 41 band). those tests were

inconclusive but i've sick since september (or earlier) and had a tick

bite in June 2007. so we did an in-depth symptoms check list for Lyme

and then based on those results (where i checked off many) he thought

that Bartonellosis was the more likely cause of my illness so we did a

symptom check off list for that and i checked off most of those.

so....i have no idea what Bartonellosis is. has anyone been diagnosed

with it? i've been googling it and am getting more confused. its a

bacteria transmitted by ticks? some websites say its only caused by

Peruvian sand flies/fleas. i can't find a simple explanation.

Treatment is for 3 months at least with antibiotics: Rifampin,

Azithromycin and Amoxicillin (taking the place of Doxycycline because

i'm allergic to it). if you've had Bartonellosis, how long was your

treatment and recovery to feeling mostly " normal. "

also, does anyone know if the Lyme Disease Diet applies to

Bartonellosis...my doctor didn't mention it but i am assuming it

applies since its treated with antibiotics like Lyme.

any information on Bartonellosis would be greatly appreciated!

thank you,

St.
