Guest guest
disability tries to beat you down so you give up....don't give up if truly ill. Most get it for difficulties with short term memory and cognition....regardless of diagnosis. If affordable, get a nueropsych test on your own. If can't afford it find a psychologist who will give parts of a nueropscych test that tests short term memory. Or, ssd will send you to someone if short term memory and concentration is a problem. I'm on ssd since about 1994, filed in about 1990. I was about 32. Back then chronic fatigue immune dysfunction was not known about but I had really good documentation.I even went to the Mayo clinic. I was denied once, advised to get an attorney and was eventually awarded it. I never went before a judge. fabulous helpful site to answer ssd questions run by a moderator...not run by or affiliated with the social security office. it is a group like this group but run by a moderator who helps answer questions about the process. Disinissues website - Disinissues My daughter is now sick with lyme so I'm thinking I have lyme and not knowing, passed it on to her.So my diagnosis might change but symptoms still short term memory and cognition and attention. If awarded, the reviews are stressful. Having a doctor who will work with you is extremely important. A doctor copying your file is not good. They have to be willing to write a letter and answer questions. I always ask a doctor what their policy is in regard to social security disability. if they say they only copy the file and send it in, I say thank you and don't use him for ssd claims. This can be damaging because ssd looks for anything positive the doctor might have jotted in your chart and they use that to substantiate their case. So, be careful with who you choose as a physician and be sure to ask if they are willing to write a letter saying you are unable to be gainfully employed. Take care..by the way, if ssd is awarded it is an extremely bitter sweet feeling, none like i have ever experienced.
