Guest guest
Yes, but have you not been tested? Have you not eagerly awaited the results and been frustrated that they paint such an inconclusive picture? Don't you wonder if a band might have been there, the technician was just dismissive... My point is just that we test nonetheless, that testing still matters, and discussing labs although imperfect at best is worthwhile. Guest guest
In Sept of 2007 I had a Wetern Blot from Quest. It was negative. Last month, six months later, I had an Igenex PCR and Western Blot. Both were positive. I believe I've had some version of LD since about 1988. Guest guest
Yes. IT IS frustrating. I got my first Igenex results yesterday, and the are not what I expected. I expected to be IgG positive, yet I was not. However, I was IgM positive. It's as if going on IV abx exposed the disease and my immune system kicked in again. IFA positive, 1:80 C6 positive, 1.25 IgM WB: 28++, 31+, 39 IND, 41+, 83-93 IND IgG WB: 31 IND, 41+, 83-93 IND. 8 months ago I was IgM positive with Labcorp, in February 3 IgG bands with Quest and 0.96 C6 . Guest guest
This darn disease can cloak itself. Maybe the best thing we can do is watch the first generation Star Trek show with the Romulan ships that can cloak themselves, hire a y-Krik-McCoy equivalent Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (LLMD), find out their favorite test, have that test done, then visit LLMD in person for the clinical portion of the diagnosis. My test from Fry Laboratories said I had a small amount of Bartonella. My y-Krik-McCoy equivalent LLMD said that everybody has Bartonella. Based on an extensive medical history and hands on examination, I'm trying 3 months of doxycycline, which is just knocking the wind out of my sails. The results from my Lyme tests from IgeneX and Fry Laboratories are that we can't tell what I have. These results both use blood from the same butterfly needle insertion. The test results may be viewed in the " Pics " section of my MySpace profile. Look for the blue circles. http://www.myspace.com/alrightguy123 > > The labs are both useless for Lyme. Guest guest
Silas, My thoughts on this from my own testing (several times a year) is that if there is underlying infection(s) that are untreated, then this will be reflected in your test results (i.e. positive IgM for a 'current/active' infection) despite treatment. This can be other 'tick borne infections' as well as viruses like (but not limited to): H.pylori (which causes ulcers) or HSV (which causes cold sores). I've also found that Chinese Herbs and some supplements can skew my results... which is why keeping a good symptoms log is essential / Charolette :-) --------------------------------- Ask a question on any topic and get answers from real people.
