Guest guest
I'm looking for people who have had experience with Bicillin shots. I was told that Bicillin penetrates the blood/brain barrier and the nervous system. I'm due to stop Doxycycline and start weekly Bicillin shots, which might increase to twice weekly, depending on how I respond. (This is for memory problems and tremors in my hands and sometimes my face.) My doctor also wanted to put me on Flagyl, but I didn't want to start it yet, because I took it once for giardia (sp?) and got so sick that I couldn't function at all. All the doctors said there was nothing wrong with me, despite all my symptoms. And yes, they thought it was " all in my head. " My doctor thinks the severe illness I had afterwards was a herx (my first herx, before I knew I had Lyme). Thanks for any experience/information you have to share. Guest guest
I had a three month course of Bicillin injections because the Lyme is into my cardiac muscle. I had no significant problems with the injections, but had to stop Bicillin because it was irritating my gall bladder. After multiple courses of hi-octane antibiotics, I had to have my gall bladder removed-tests revealed it was loaded with Lyme. I am now recovering from the surgery. When I was treated for neuro lyme, I did not receive Bicillin-my LLMD put me on Malarone (an anti- malarial drug). The course of treatment was horrible with herxes that included hallucinations (visual, auditory, and tactile), severe insomnia, extreme paranoia, panic attacks, worsening brain fog, and massive irritability. However, the treatment worked, and my brain is now back to functioning.
Guest guest
Take the shots! My husband and I have been giving them to each other on and off for years. Your Dr. is correct, you should take it along with another antibiotic in pill form. If you're uncomfortable with the one he suggested, let him know. There are many choices. My husband takes zithromax and I currently take spectraceff. The only thing I would caution you on is not to take the shot in the same spot each time. Try to find as many new locations as you can so you don't run into a problem with your body having trouble absorbing the medication. You'll know this is happening if you feel a lump (like a golf ball) at the injection site, after receiving your shot. If this happens you can try taking the shots in your thigh, if you've been taking them in the behind, but only under the instruction of your Dr. or you'll have to give your body a break for a few weeks and try again. Your Dr. may be able to show you some tricks as well, such as transfering the medication to a smaller needle, etc... Anyway, I do think Bicillin is a very wise choice. Guest guest
-Just out of curiousity, how did you test your gall bladder for Lyme? I think this could be a great source of my problems.
